Robert Anton Wilson dead? |
|
all right so I go into work with Anne and the weather wasn’t that bad, I met Rob etc coming off the elevator and he asked where I was last night but I didn’t need to explain to much as he smiled realizing what’s going down. I got my cheaque and my stat pay. No problem. No bank bonus on there as well but I’m entering this on me pay stub. Only one tap shooter got bank bonus. I had as low start but I ended up pulling in well over $165 bucks in credit cards. I had a great night with $5 bucks away from line hour. I went into Tim’s for a de cafĂ© and rode back with Don and I think her name is Kathy. I got home to watch the NHL scores some peanut butter and crackers and Anne came in. I did all my accounting stuff and Anne came in and made me a nice soup and sandwich lunch. I watched the news and here I am.
It seems that Robert Anton Wilson has died. I knew he was on his deathbed but this is news to me. I’ve never written to him before or read any of his work, He is best known for "cosmic trigger." His contemporaries would be people like Timothy Leary etc. I first heard about RAW in my early days in Thelema back in 1980. Many people in OTO circles considered him fringe when I first got involved. He was born in 1932 so that must have meant he died at the age of 75. There is no obit about him that I’ve found.
Tomorrow night I’m off to Chapters to pick up a few books. I have a "shopping list" of new stuff. Charles Stress "Glass house", Ben Bova "Green trap", William Deitz "Logos Run" if I Can find them there or something else. These will round out my books for January,
Also Saturday and this weekend I plan on doing a few more versions of BGS. This might begin to change all together but for now I like what I’ve got. I’m also, going to focus my WOTF rejects onto SFWA qualified markets. This is for several reasons. Firstly to get my work into a position where I can become a SFWA member. With that my short stories can be in a Nebula/Hugo position. Then I can look at the markets. I realize that my fiction needs to be improved and I recognize this. I’m working on it all the time. I endeavor to improve.
