Book titles and other crap |
|
All right, Yesterday Anne and I had another good trip into work and I closed off with +1,161 words and since I’m off today (lodge night) I’ll be hard at work hopefully putting in a 2k day on “F”. Maybe even 3k if I can. I won’t need to go over to the pay phone to call Neil and I might just wander in on my own to the lodge as Nathan there said he’d drive me back. That’s my agenda for tomorrow. Something new: Now Rob is introducing this multi file. Running both a charity and a ticket campaign together keeping two separate recaps. It was slow and I ended up doing a total of $240. I almost had a credit card but I fucked up by not writing it down and I escaped because I made a mistake and I lost the numbers. Big news, Debbie our events coordinator and officer girl after 12 years is leaving Friday and Tony says he’ll be going as well back into the “Corporate world” So three big changes in the office already. Duo campaigns Debbie and Tony leaving, big changes are happening in the office. If I had stuck around waiting for the new kid to do totals I’d have missed that first train. So if they are going to continue this practice of running 2 campaigns, then I’m cashing in on my non smoke breaks and taking off ten minutes early. That was a really windy trek to Carona over ice and snow. It got so windy the wind just about blew me over. My co-workers were late getting on so I caught the train alone, which I prefer it that way. I met Katie the little teenager there coming up to me wondering where our bus was and we boarded that a brief wait and the wind again was so hard it just about knocked me over. I got into watch a bit of the 2nd period come to a close of the Oilers hosting Columbus. The Oilers were leading 3-1, Tye and Jussi in goal. In the 2nd period Columbus made it 3-2 Oilers and then the Oilers got two goals to make it 5-2. Good stuff but still 2 points away from a playoff spot. The trade deadline will be February 28. Anne made me a nice lunch and I’m about to have some sleepy time tea and work on “F”.
Earlier today I posted a couple of posts on Robert J Sawyer’s Blog about Book titles being the same. For example, I wrote a novel about 16 yeas ago called “Meltdown.”
RJS said that’s why there are ISBN numbers. You can read what I rote here.
I like RJS’s sense of professionalism so much that when “F” is completed and I’ve reworked it a half doz times etc. I’d like to send it off to his book imprint. Not that I don’t think it’s good enough for the "big leagues" but I’d like to get it published in Canada and be published in Canada. Short stories that’s another matter but I’d like to be published by a Canadian press. RJS books would still demand the same sense of quality as Tor or anything else that gets published small press or large. Crap is crap and crap never gets published. I don’t want to send him crap or anyone else for that matter. I try to take some pride in what I attempt to publish. That’s why I work a story a doz times before I send it out.
That’s all from me so far today.
