we got to bed by 3an and I passed out about 3:30am. I woke up at 6am and got up again at 8am to do a late cbi thing and then back to bed and slept until noon. I figured I’d get another 40 winks in or so but I slept and woke up at 1pm. I put some notes about “F” on paper for later and with all of that, I think I got maybe 8.5 hours of sleep.
On the news last night Harper announced he was going to get tougher on companies that produced more Co2 emissions not naming names but the gist of this was tougher on oil companies more specifically Alberta oil companies active in the Alberta oil boom currently underway-part 2. Harper’s minority Govt is taking some flack over Canada’s role in Afghanistan by Liberal and Block agendas that would call for a spring/fall election bringing his Govt down. As this was going down the NDP (green) said “Get behind “our” Kyoto agenda and we will get behind you.” So last nights get tough on Alberta oil activity was meant to kiss NDP ass. Harper was kind of vague in all this but if he pulls out another national energy program in order to slow our local economy down for the NDP and the environmentalists it will put thousands of Albertans out of work and send us and the country into a recession. The thing is we’re not as dumb as we were 20 years ago and people are (thanks to the Internet) beginning to figure this environment/global warming/climate change thing out. CFC’s are not the only cause of ozone depletion as people like David Susuki would have us believe. Solar activity on the Sun also contributes to ozone depletion so does volcanic activity under the ocean floor in the artic releases sulfuric gases. These gases cause what’s known as the artic haze. Volcanic activity in other parts of the world is also responsible for warming the oceans which also warm up artic ice. To suggest that global warming is man made is now becoming silly. The earth right now is going through natural earth cycles but the environmentalists don’t want you to know that. They want the world to be in a constant state of crisis. They don’t want to lose their funding. Harper doesn’t want to lose his Government so he’s kissing NDP ass. Even Nasa is getting involved and providing useful data that supports what I’m talking about here. Our society is being conditioned to the environmentalists tune because if you’re not down with that then you’re against the environment animals and God knows everything else. There is the other side of the story but media doesn’t want to hear it. Right now the environment is sexy, it creates news and the media doesn’t want to hear about other points of view.
Sorry for getting political here but it really bugs me when Ottawa makes these threats where Alberta feels it more then anyone else in the country. If a national election were called today, I would not vote Harper. I’d probably vote Block. If Ottawa announces another National Energy Program (NEP) like 1982, I’m going to get behind the Alberta separation movement big time. My theory here is that Alberta and BC should separate and form our own country and that’s looking pretty good to me right now.
Ok, back to the writing. Last night I ended up with 500 words on “F” with another 500 left to go. I doubt I’ll get any further tonight when I come home because I’m off to Chapters tonight I’m looking for the Writers of the Future and Mike Resnick’s latest anthology, both out in paperback.
That’s all for now
