Book clubs and a new month

I’m considering joining the Science fiction Book club/Canada. Their initial offer is really good 5 books for $1 and the 5^th book free. The average hard cover book at Chapters is about $40

Canadian, which is way beyond my reach but by joining a book club not only do I get the deal, I also get hard cover’s at almost 50% off the cover price from joining. Where they get you is the shipping and handling charges. Still it’s a good deal. Their only stipulation is to buy 4 books at regular club prices/year. If this works out that I indeed get the deal books (s/h) and the prices are decent, then it might be worthwhile. The other thing is Chapters has hardcover discounts as well. I haven’t been looking at their Sci fi selection table but they have this table, 3 books for $25. This is considerably cheaper at just over $8 hardcover but their selection is lame and lots of broken series. I need a PDA device where I can take Fantastic Fiction on the go and key in the author inside and got it. I should check on that table at least once a month. Because the discount tables aren’t updated very often it’s hard to find something I would like. I don’t want a book 4 of something a Star Wars book and some genre I have no interest in. Anyway, back to bed.

I went back to bed there and couldn’t sleep but after Anne had left to take care of our business, rent bus pass etc, we’re fine for another month, for this month. The only thing I’m concerned with for this month is my eye surgery on Wednesday, my wife’s birthday on the 16^th, lodge on the 15^th hoping without Ryan Smyth the Oilers can make it to the playoffs and last, finishing up the rd of “F” The most important date is next week March 7^th. So I have the 7^th, 15^th, 16^th

As the 3 big dates this month. The week after the yag I’m working Thursday morning for the lodge. Mon, 4 Tues 7 Wed 7, Thur 4, Fri 3.5 Sat 4. I’d rather for Saturday they start the shift at noon and work until 5pm.

When Anne came in she had my T4 from the Govt. This marks the first one to this address. I’ve been with Xt since Sept 2000 and prior to this my T4’s kept coming to my old Jasper Place address, Last year the courier had to bring them up from Calgary. The last great thing Debbie did for me after having my vacation pay accrued was to get head office to change my mailing address I’ve been here since Nov. 2000. This has been my 6^th year here.

I was struggling with Markus over some one else using my domain name, which is ejimshannon.com. So when you type that into Google the first thing you get is some hawker site pawning off cheap air tickets. He straitened me out and now if friends and co-workers want to find my site a simple jim-shannon.com, will get you to the main page.

What’s on my plate today? Well, I’ll be having my shower in about 20 min and ready to eat. Then it’s off into work with my little Walkman to listen to the hockey game, “go Oilers go!” And home to maybe catch the rest of it and put together another 1000 words on “F” maybe even break 70k tonight. Hopefully maybe if I get anything back from income tax, I’ll be able to get that all in one printer I want around May.
