and n Friday 1000+ word-count later I had a great 8 hours of sleep and I’m feeling pretty good. I’ve got my coffee in my favorite Tim’s coffee cup here and ready to go.
According to the weather pixie that doesn’t know what City this is, it’s a balmy +7* out there. Another week of this and the snow outside will be gone. I want to have an out door shot of me that I can have on my website when the weather is good. But since I took that outdoor shot of our first real snowfall last October, we’ve had snow on the ground for 6 months now. This is the first real winter that we’ve received here since I think 1999. Global warming has of course played a big role in all of this. By global warming I mean natural changes earth goes through. Of course the weather pixie doesn’t know this.
Not to get political here but Our PM Stephen Harper was in town yesterday handing out green money. Alberta is going to receive something like $250 Million for oil sands companies/development to install a new technology that apparently sends CO2 emissions deep underground where it will be locked in forever. Kind of like sweeping the dirt under the rug Oil companies can produce up to 12%/barrel of oil emission free oil before they are fined I don’t know what the numbers are but this is supposed to be implemented July first. If Oil companies go over the 12% they must put the difference in some kind of reduction emission fund. I’m not sure what that means doe Oil sands development and it’s implications on our local economy then you get all these Green idiots protesting that it’s not good enough. No doubt a bunch of students studying to become social workers. They hope that by putting pressure on the local economy there will be thousands of people unemployed and out of work to maintain their cushy jobs The Unemployment insurance scam here in Canada is worth something like 5 Billion. I’d rather see the economy in the City as it is now 2nd lowest in the country behind Calgary and everybody employed then a bunch of women social workers roaming around. Does that sound sexiest? Well it should because in that industry the majority of social workers are women.
Last night while watching the news, I came across this story how this worker from Telus, working from home on a laptop. Telus wants to study how they can have all of their call center operations working from home. Essentially my company Anne’s and other Call Center’s can do this quite easily. For us, It would only be our tap shooters. If you have a computer it’s just a simple procedure to have all our calls forward to our computers from the office. So lets say I want to work from 9-1 I can. I just get up at 8am have a shower fix my coffee and fire up the computer and log in to activate. The calls would come to me instead of me going to the office. I could “go to work” in my underwear. At 1pm the calls would be shut off. I’d tally my total and email it into Rob. I’d still have to go down to the office to pick up my cheaque because we do not have direct bank deposited because of the high staff turnover. But knowing my Company we will be the last to make any such changes. The beauty of working from home is I don’t need to take a bus into work every day. I save almost $1000 bucks/year in transportation costs. I could see almost every Call Center operation working from home within the next five years.
That’s it for now. My wife is out doing our banking and she should be home in about 45 min. If all goes well, I hope to have $25 bucks and I’m not going to spend it all on books either. I’ll get one book and save the rest in case we may need it until she gets her pay cheaque next week.
