month. Just before lunch at midnight, I got into this 1/8 part documentary on David Bowie on YouTube. It was originally aired from the series “Biography” covering David Bowie from the 1960’s to present day. Awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I became a fan of Bowie back in 1969 when I first heard of his “Space Oddity” album when I was 17 years old just fresh out from my back operation and when Dave Winfield and I were painting that mural using the overhead projector in the art department materials storage room in art class from the film “2001 a Space Odyssey”. We had the sound track album before I went to see the movie. The movie was made in 1968 and released about the same time as Apollo 11 moon landing July 1969. I can’t remember what came first the David Bowie song or the movie but I do recall the song “Major Tom” and walking over the False Creek bridge that evening to watch the movie. I went there by myself. It was that movie that made me a science fiction fan. Sure I was aware of Star Trek had been just wrapping up its stint and I was reading Marvel comics and all but Star Trek as good as it was did not make me a sci-fi fan. It was the movie “2001 a Space Odyssey” that did it. Major Tom always brings back the memory for me of me walking across that bridge to see the movie at the Princes Theater. Watching the David Bowie documentary brought back a lot of memories.
Anyway Anne just ordered Wrestlemania for me. That’s going to cost $50 plus tax but I’m working this week Mon-Thu 1:30-9pm to pay for it. Plus I get my stat pay and I’ll be working next Saturday. She originally wanted me to have a long weekend but I can have a long weekend at the end of the month. I’m not to worried.
Earlier before supper I began work on my new story. I think what I’m going to do is to submit it to Sam Dot’s like J suggested I do with my work and break in gradually. I decided to make this story 5k long and I began writing it April 1st so I hope to have the rough draft done before the end of this month. Then I’m going to boil it down. I think I sent one of my stories to “Fifth Di” a couple of years ago but it was rejected. I sent “Li” to “Strange Horizons” and they rejected it as well, no surprise there. I don’t recall, which version of the story this was; the story was called “Lift-off” I’m not done with “Li” yet either but even though I have a hard copy of it here I can’t tell what version of the story it is. Sigh, my life for a scanner. I don’t even know if J can tell, which story I sent or even if he rejected it or someone else or even what the story was called. I strongly suspect though it was “LI”. This next story is in 3rd person. So far I got lucky sending out “Zombies of sleep.” I think “Crosshairs” was a lot stronger then Zombies and I somehow think because Static movement is a relatively young story effort they needed my story more for padding then actual story quality. This is why this next story whenever I finally have it written despite how many versions of it might not be ready until for submission until maybe July or August. That also doesn’t mean that I won’t be working on “F” and write “S” April 15th and for that matter even get out HRA. All those plans are still in the works. “F” will most likely be the only finished novel to go out this year despite writing “S” and my 3rd novel project in the fall .
