it was

just beautiful heading into work Thursday afternoon, the temperature was about +10* and the winds were light at around 7 knots. It was very pleasant as things were drying out at last. I got in and no bank report was posted. I got my cheaque. We had to modify our spiels to include the circus, sponsorship programs and then a donation. So I glossed over the first two and went right into my usual donation angle. I did ok. I also got my pay cheaque and was happy about that. I ended up pulling in $335, which wasn’t to bad and of course since were calling into Winnipeg, we’re out by 8:30pm, fine by me. I was considering heading to Audrey’s across the street to see if they had an order for me but I decided to go right down to the train. Good thing I did to because Clairview was pulling in. I had a nice ride in and got inside the apartment to see if any of the games were in progress.

Actually Paul pointed out to me that the only reason that Detroit lost the first round last year by the Oilers was that Hasek, The Dominator wasn’t in their line up. That makes sense as other then the Vancouver goaltender Lounge Hasek is one of the best in the league. They beat out Calgary something 4-1 but I’m not going to talk hockey.

Anne made me a nice baked pasta dinner, we watched the news and now just winding down the evening.

SF signal had a post about “sci-fi” or science fiction. I write soft science fiction but the post mainly had to deal with semantics and using the term sci-fi or science fiction. I never did like the term sci-fi. Sci fi tome sounds m ore mundane then science fiction. Sci –fi is something the mundane can use but we that are in the science fiction community should know better. Check out their post today in the side bar. I’m too lazy to post a link.

Another thing I get asked once in awhile is, which science fiction author influenced me the most. I think my number one science fiction authors that influenced me were A.) L. Ron Hubbard, B.) Clifford D Simak, C.) C.J. Cherryh and D.) James P Hogan, E.) Stan Lee. Just to name a few. “But Jim, what was the worst Novel you have ever read?” Battlefield Earth. Sorry Ron, but I thought it was crap.

On my plate for today, I’m going into work with my wife. First time all week. Like most of the week, it’s going to be a short shift. After that, I’m going to head up to Chapters and pick something out.
