Big Friday

I went to work just fine and even picked up a Tim’s coffee and their Roll up prize is over. That was a short contest. I got into work and sat at my dialer and we ended up doing Baseball taps for the first little while. Then after the taps were gone Pat gets up and decides to leave. Holy shit wtf is going on? This was oblivious to everyone else of course. I got my lousy pay cheaque and even though Anne won’t contest it much, I know I will. It was accurate and all. Anyway, Beginning May 1st I’m going to have to put more hours in. I can’t handle getting pay cheaques like that any more. To many god damn Doctors appointments and having too much time off. It gets worse because next week, I’m going to see Robert J Sawyer and I’ve got a lodge meeting. I can’t go to both and I missed last weeks lodge meeting. Something’s got to give. I’m afraid it’s adios Rob. See you next time you’re here. I’m sure he’ll get a good turn out regardless. I might be able to swing both if I go in Monday for 1-9 and Tuesday 1-7 and work Wednesday 1-9 and work Thursday morning for the lodge. I ended up getting my cheaque and a whopping total of $250. I was more pissed off with Pat then anything else last night but my buddy Jeff sat with me. He was playing on his Ntendo DS all night. I had a slow start to get on the board but I’m okay. I got out of there feeling pretty good. It was/is such a nice evening even though the wind picked up. I brought my glucometer along with me and I tested my bsl at 4:40 I was at 8.2. So I left out of the office feeling pretty good and caught the train home without incident and arrived here about 9:40pm.

I copied my existing website into word and copied that into Paint and made a sketch for Markus how I’d like the site modified. If all goes well, I should have a new photo of me on the site up by the weekend and the new look of the site as well. I emailed this to Markus a few minutes ago. He’ll get it later today so I should have an answer of what he can or can’t do with GL.

The Province is finally stepping in and will soon introduce legislation for rent controls. The current plan is that Property Management Firms or (PMF) cannot increase the rent more then twice a year. So the draft of the new bill is being written but will it be to little too late?
The new plan as I understand it means that once this legislation is entered into Law, a PMF cannot increase the rent more then once/year and only by 10% of the rent. As of June 30th we’ll be paying $730 10% of that means that when the new legislation is passed into Law, PMF’s can increase this up to $73 more making the rent go up to $803 and so on. It’s not affordable housing but it’s a step in the right direction. It also means that until when and if the law is passed and goes into affect the PMH can increase the rent to whatever it wants. One example on the news is that a single woman was paying something like $640 for a one-bedroom apartment. She got an increase of about $60 more. The greedy gouging PMF heard the news of the proposed Law and increased her rent by another $300 the very next day. I’m concerned we’re going to get the same thing happened to us. We can’t afford $1000 month rent for a 2-bedroom apartment. Knowing us, this will go up to $1200/month.
People are getting really scared around here. Pretty soon housing will be for the rich. There is Alberta/Edmonton Housing but there’s a 2-year waiting list to get into that. The other popular thing around here is Condo’s, PMF’s love to turn apartment blocks into Condo’s because they’re a bigger bang for the buck for the greedy gouging PMF’s. The other thing about Alberta/Edmonton housing or AEH is that there are restrictions. You can only have one pet. This is crazy. So until we can come up with a solution, we’re helpless.

Today I’m going in at my regular time and Anne is going in with me. Next week I’ve got a very crowded week and it’s going to be tough juggling RJS on Tuesday and lodge Thursday. I can’t spend any money because I’ll need that for the lodge for the festive board. Other wise I’m going into work for my Friday night, News lunch and of course ECW. Then bed and up Saturday morning to do it all over again.
