Sunday and hockey |
|
Anyway Anne made us a nice brunch but I forgot to take my insulin. The Anaheim/Vancouver game is on at 6pm tonight and that’s going to take me up until 8:30 or so. Go Canucks go! In a related hockey story last week Oiler’s owner’s group took out a full page add in our daily paper apologizing to the fans for the Oilers dismal season. Also lately the heats been turned up about a new downtown arena. It seems that the study group for this great idea wants to use Casino money to help pay for it. That’s also a great idea but there are some special interests out there that are complaining about how a new arena scheme should not be on the backs of peoples gambling habits. People are going to gamble anyway no matter what project is put to the table. Since Bingo’s are on the endangered species list around here Casino’s are excellent ways to generate income. Mostly Bingo’s generated income for charities only. Now that Casino’s fill the vacuum and spread the cash base around other groups can take advantage of Casino’s. Our lodge for instance sends people to work in the counting room if some of the more well known Casino’s here for our scholarship program. When my vision improves this is something I’d like to do is to go into a Casino counting room and count the cash. I love counting cash even if its just other peoples money.
Speaking about the external hard drive, I already have $25 bucks towards it from the reward points my wife gave me from her job last week. She agrees an external hard drive is an excellent addition to my computer and this will work with W98. What I’m going to try is when my vision is restored is to get all the files on the external hard drive and then get Future shop to make a DVD for me of these files. Then reformat my internal hard drive on my W98 machine. Then install Xp Home edition and get a USB shuttle cable rig it between my Compaq crashed new Xp system and retrieve as many files as I can from my Compaq onto my external drive and reformat the Compaq again and transfer the files back. I really want an Ipod but like I said there are some systems requirement issues. The only thing I don’t like about buying a retail computer is all the 30-day “free trial programs” they install that slows the system down and the minimum Ram they provide. Not just that but they give you a pre installed version of the OS that you need to build from scratch. I could recover the data on my crashed Compaq without going the above route only I did not build a recovery disk. The recovery disk is 10 Cd’s long on the Compaq but I’m sure one Dvd disk can handle the complete recovery system. I’m also looking at a laptop but with the controversy of laptop batteries catching fire lately gives, me pause for some concern. But the external hard drive despite all of the above, is a real possibility this spring.
So, that’s enough about global warming and the alarmists for now. I’ve got a nifty link however I want to insert in my “For what it’s worth” section titled Al Gore hypocrite, courtesy of Neal Asher’s blog. His blog entry sums everything up quite nicely just what a hypocrite Gore is. Thank God Ottawa had the common sense to rescind the Kyoto Protocol and sent the bitch packing.
Also, I’ve got a bit of time to work on F tonight after the game. I went over this long blog entry and added a few things here and three. It’s a bit choppy in places today fols but it’s been a hectic fays as well. At least it’s raining and the rain will green everything up.
That’s all for now. Sorry to be sounding like a broken record over this global warming thing but that’s enough now. I’ll stop. I think I made my point.
