Sunday and such

I got up at noon to watch the Buffalo/Rangers game and the Sabers close out their season with the Rangers. It was really tight game near the end. The Rangers though are a class act. The players stuck around after shaking hands with the opposing team. A playoff tradition after the Sabers left the ice the players raised their sticks up to salute the fans, a nice gesture. The Oilers closed out their last game in Calgary April 7th with a win. So in the East semi finales it’s Ottawa and Buffalo to decide the East. Meanwhile Anaheim just keeps resting until Detroit and SJ goes 7 games. I’d like to see an SJ/Sens match up in the finale.

Speaking of hockey and I don’t know how I missed not hearing about this: It seems pharmacist/Drugstore tycoon Daryl Katz has made a $145 million dollar bid to buy the Edmonton Oilers away from the 37 owner’s investors group. So far the investors group are mulling the offer over. The overall worth of the Oilers franchise is worth $161 million. If they come back to Katz a resident of Edmonton saying they’ll do the deal for $151 million and Katz agrees, then this could be an exciting time for the Oilers. Mayor Mandel had said that a new downtown arena might not happen without private funds. The Toronto Maple leafs are owned by the Ontario teacher pensions fund and they also own the Raptors and the ACC arena. If Katz buys the Oilers and Mandel gets pension and say casino money the Oilers could have a new home before their lease expires in 2014. Katz wants the Oilers to remain here in Edmonton and that’s a step in the right direction. It’s a perfect fit if it can happen.

After the game and brunch I answered some email from Markus/website stuff. I’m considering buying a menu plug in for my site in an effort to make it look more professional. He’s got the right idea as far as the menus that run along the top and all but I like the drop down sub menu idea. That’s the current phase of my website project.

Also before supper I’m going to read more F. The initial rough draft is to get the ideas down. The first edit is to fix punctuation misspelled words and broken words. I’m in the process of doing the first edit now before the first rewrite. So, it’s going to go: Draft/edit, rewrite/edit, rewrite/edit, proofread/edit. Finale read/submission. I’ll be even looking for test readers as well that might offer me critiques. What’s good/bad that type of thing. But the finale read/submission might be at the end of the year. There will be a few short stories out between now and then of course and the rest of “My Big plan for 2007.”

So far no tooth ace pain at all yesterday and today, I still have some Tylenol’s left if it flares up again. Last night was the first time in quite awhile I got a decent nights sleep. My wife and I are worried about our little white Siamese guy Sporty. He’s been lying around the house very lethargic over the past couple of days. My mouth is still a bit swollen but I was able to eat a breakfast at brunch today watching the Sabers/Ranger game. Meanwhile Sporty isn’t looking very well. Could be he’s just going through something. I hope it’s got nothing to do with the tainted pet food controversy lately.

Anyway, that’s all for me for today

e. Jim
