Yeesh!

Earlier yesterday morning about 3am my tooth flared up something horrible. I took the last of the Tylenol 1’s with codeine but that didn’t help much. I was up all night and we had to take Sporty into the vet yesterday morning, just what I don’t need, everything happening at once. I managed to have the T1 work on me and I slept on the couch for an hour and an hour in bed. We managed to get out of here with Sporty at 2pm. I was feeling ok and no worse for wear and glad to get out of the apartment. That number 11 bus was so friggen long and Anne wanted to catch a connector bus that led further down 97th st. It had been a long time since I was in the area. I knew they had changed the Rosiland hotel some years ago and a Shoppers Drug Mart was also added among other things. The old H&R block store was still there. That’s where in 1989 Don Brown, JT and I worked for Phoenix Fundraising. It was an abandoned H&R block tax place before PF took it over for about a month. I mention it in length in my other diary.

Anyway, we took Sporty in. He was weighed in at 7.8K. They took his temperature, and he didn’t know what to think about that one. They gave him 2 shots and he took both of them well. I think the bill came just over $100. I’m glad Anne got paid today. So we will have to bring him back in the morning to find out exactly what’s going on. The Doctor thinks it could be a virus but it could be something else in the chest/throat area. That would be fearing the worst but Sporty is sniffling and I think it’s a virus because Sparky, his brother has it also. Not only are we up early to go in there for 11:15am, she also wants to see Pledges as well. We were out of there by 3:15pm. Sure I probably could have called JT and let him know, I wouldn’t be coming in. It took us an hour to get home just from Kingsway to our place. I was still holding out ok.

At least it was a beautiful day for an outing and Sporty seemed to like the bus ride and the passengers we rode with liked Sporty. So even if I wanted to go in, I still hadn’t had a bite to eat and even by the time I left and gout out of the house, it would have been about 6pm by the time I would have got to my dialer. Not just that but we were calling into Winnipeg anyway, which meant we’d be off work at 8:30. I’d get 2.5 hours in. I decided I’d watch the Sens/Sabers game and after that Anne and I would take a walk up to the NE medi mart. Imagine my surprise when the clerk said be prepared for a 2.5 hour wait. Yeesh. So we waited it out. Finally they locked everyone in at 10pm, because they had just one Doctor on staff. Yeesh. Finally the nurse took us to the waiting room and the Doctor a nice older Scottish fellow came in and I said what the problem was and he wrote me out a generic prescription for some anti biotics and Tylenol 3’s. He even took a look inside where the problem tooth was and I asked him if I went in and had my teeth all taken out would they knock me out. Unconscious. He said yes. Great. I think then what I’d do is I’m going to investigate the University Dental clinic and get further information and yes if they put me under gas and take all my teeth out in one session. I’d wake up and probably feeling numb but weird with al my teeth gone. Then a prescription for the pain and swelling because there will be certainly enough of that later. I’d have to go through maybe a week of pain but at least I’d know there will be light at the end of the tunnel. Anne and I had about a mile or so to go but I left out of there with my prescription around 10:25 pm and it was a nice walk home. We got in to watch the news at 11. The only downside to all of this was we had to wait for over 2 hours and we couldn’t fill the prescription tonight. I just hope my mouth holds up until I can get the prescription filled.

I’m kind of apprehensive about going into work tomorrow. Paul gave me shit for rating out on him once already but the fireworks show isn’t 2 hours long for Baseball. Besides all I did Wednesday night just before the shift was called was to suggest Jeff listen to Paul’s opening spiel. It was Jeff that rated out on him not me and for good reason I might add. Our company had bee sued because unscrupulous callers had took liberties basically saying they were cops on the phone. Now, no doubt last night before JT brought the problem to Rob, he’d listen to some of Paul’s calls. If JT finds that Paul is indeed misrepresenting the company by saying he’s a cop, then shit will hit the fan. Paul will be out for my hide if he’s called on this. And JT will be a bit pissed off because I missed Thursday. This is why I’m a little apprehensive for going in Friday.

Anyway, that’s about all for now.

e. Jim
