this Friday marks that day when Richard and I tried to get some cash at the Meyers but the actual day itself was Friday.

Anne made us Taco’s for lunch and I’m having a back rub break tonight. I’m going to be blogging this at 1am and off to bed as I’m up for day two/three of my afternoon shift. If I don’t get the full 31 hours in this way, I’ll have to work Friday afternoon to do it. At this rate, I’ve got 9.5 hours in. 6 more Wednesday, and 6 more for Thursday will give me 21.5. If I did only Friday night and Saturday, that will give me 28.5 hours and if I do Friday afternoon for a full Friday or Wed, Thur, then I won’t need to do Friday afternoon. If Ron keeps shorting the afternoon shift and the evening shift, I won’t be able to get my 31.5 hours in. I’m doing this for my medical and for Anne and I. I can do it like this if I do Mon-Thur 6 days Fridays and Friday night and Saturday. That’s 31.5 hours.

Otherwise the long weekend is coming up next Monday. Knowing our company we will have to work the day before and the day after. I would be nice to have a 3-day weekend but this would foul up my 31.5 hour/week goal. At $315 gross pay x6% would give me about $983 in accrued vacation pay at the end of the year. Add my pay cheaque onto that and after the Feds take their pound of flesh I’d be left with about $1000 bucks on my pay cheaque, yeah right.

Yesterday over there at SF Signal they were talking about

“The Brave New Words: The Oxford Dictionary of Science Fiction”, edited by Jeff Prucher. This looks like an interesting edition to my reference library. Amazon wants $22 bucks for it CND.

There aren’t any movies that jump out at me this summer and say, “Wow.” Even the upcoming Star Trek Xl seems a bit lame. They could have done an Enterprise treatment but instead they want to do a Kirk and Spock at the Academy. This may appeal to teenagers but I don’t think it would hold the interest of adults. If anything I see this idea as something that would disenfranchise traditional Start Trek fans. Such a concept I think would be more suited as an animated movie.

So good old Jerry Farewell died. I hope his moral majority died with him. I really don’t have any other comments to say about him. Next, his buddy Pat Robertson will be joining him and they can argue who the “Real Christians” are till their hearts content.
