This week:

that’s it for the stats page. Now I want to compile the data. I have 87,000 words. This includes the prologue. I clipped through the middle sooner then I expected. This was a surprise as I thought the middle would just bog me down. The 3 stats I wanted to compile were: Word count/scene, lines per scene and dialogue lines/scene. It’s going to be interesting to stack my dialogue lines against non-dialogue lines.

Today was a writing day and I’m glad I’m almost finished with the stats project. There’s one more minor detail and hat is removing extra what I call guide words in the overall text. Removing the guide words will tell me what the actual word count is. At the moment I have an estimated word count of 87,083. After the guide words are removed I think the story will be around 86,800. I want to be at 100k and this leaves me with 13,200 to work with. I haven’t written the epilogue yet and the word count for this could be around 1200 words. This will leave me with 12,000 words to work with. Some scenes are pretty weak word count wise. I count 26 scenes under 100 words in length. Even 2 scenes just over 350 words, so there is lots more padding and characterization I can rewrite into. But this is once I scan my Template in and overlap those stats with my story stats.

This week is going to be chalk full of things going on. I’m going to work for my afternoon shift. Tuesday I’m in for 7 hours. Anne could get her ID in but I suspect maybe Wednesday or Thursday, at the earliest. I hope it comes in for Wednesday after we get home from yag laser treatment. Better yet I hope she gets it Tuesday because she has to book the bank appointment a day in advance. What a happy day if she gets the ID in Tuesday and books the bank appointment for Wednesday afternoon after a successful Doctors visit. Then we go into the bank and then we plan on going to the Scotia bank and open up an account there but same thing. We can’t just walk right into the bank. Thursday, I’m putting in another 7-hour shift Friday 6.5 hours and Saturday my usual 4.

Now if things work out well and we get the money Wednesday, I’ll bring my XP Pc over to Fs and get that restored. I’d also like to transfer all my data and settings including applications from my W/98 unit over to Xp. If I can do all of that Wednesday after the bank I’d be a happy guy. The other thing is Anne, is expecting her reward points and I get $100 out of my next cheaque. If my laser surgery is successful Wednesday and I get my Xp/W/98 system up and running and the scanner/printer and our satellite up this week, wow that’s what I call a great week.

Some other things I’m keeping my eye on this month is the upcoming NHL draft. As a fun aside, Raw is having a 3-hour draft between all 3 of their brands. Then there is the emergent meeting as my last meeting before summer break. If everything works out this month as I hope above, then I’ll be having an exceptionally great month. Also this month is the lodge BBQ. If I get the printer, then I’ll be printing up a working copy of F that I can rewrite from. With any luck at all the first rewrite of F will be completed by Labor Day.

That’s all for now.
