last night and today. |
|
I went downtown on the train. Raining under mix cloud and Sun. I like this time of year. I went into Audrey’s and picked up my 3 special orders. Finally I’ve got one of Corry Doctorow’s books. I went a bit overboard this month buying 5 books for June. That’s it for June for book buying. I heard a loud crack of thunder coming up Carona stairs to the street. The weather cleared when I got outside and walked to the office. And I bought a bottle of diet coke for work. I got my cheaque from JT and explained I got my vision back and all. Rob seemed happy as well. I helped him hand truck some boxes out to his SUV in the parking lot and wheeled it back. I had a pretty good night pulling in $125 for the taps for baseball. I could read the screen from a distance, the last of the vision tests. The 2nd half I did really well and I ended up pulling in $490 but my energy really drained during the 45 min there. JT handed out the June 17th baseball tickets and I don’t think I can get them to Doctor Morgan’s office fast enough for tomorrow. I might have to wait until the fireworks game. I was glad to get out of there even though I caught the earlier train to Clairview and a brief bus wait and then home. Anne’s luggage was there in the apartment by the shoes indicating she was home.
This weekend marks the Sherwood Park Medieval day’s anniversary. However, in this case it was on a Sunday. It was on this night 27 years ago Bill Towel and I were driving around 102nd and 124ths Street what doing I can’t remember. As I look back upon this I should have realized the writing calling within me and rather then concerning myself with summoning aspects of the occult I should have began my writing. But the motives would have been wrong. Rather then using my writing as comfort for the Ellen breakup the weekend before, my motivation for writing would have fizzled out anyway.
Anyway it looks like another nice day out there.
You know this really makes me mad. Yesterday in Calgary at the Go Expo energy conference a convention a couple of people from the “Yes Men” a group of people that like to pull pranks and practical jokes on the Corporate world managed to get on stage as key note speakers and poked fun at the petroleum industry. The people in attendance were not stupid and organizers quickly ushered these idiots off the stage. What was worse is what happened later when on last nights Global news one of these speakers said they did it in an effort to stop global warming and opinionated “Because these are the people that are destroying the planet.” Meanwhile Global eats this up. The bastards. This is another example how the Greens entrench their message of global warming gloom and doom. They use words like may cause drought and might cause flooding. This is not science. Charts, graphs and computer models are not science. This is Dictionay.com’s entry on what is science: “systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.” There are other explanations of what science is but the key element is observation. In this case the science is never settled because the observation needs to take place over long periods of time. Sure we have the glacier record to aid us in some of this. Nobody is denying that man-made C02 has an impact on the environment but the observations of this impact remains as yet or should remain as yet un settled. Yet the Greens are jumping the gun here and the other side of this “global-warming story” remains unheard and this is because of the news media. The news media needs alarming news in order to sell copy so they go along with the hype because they need the fear these environmentalists are peddling. Fear and doom and gloom sells. This should come as no surprise. As for the environmentalists their agenda is obvious. “Follow the money.” Without a “state of fear” where would Green Peace and organizations like them be? They need to peddle this state of fear or lose funding. They say all scientists agree. But not all scientists agree with the environmentalists and when people start saying things like “Trust the fact’s” that’s when I start looking for the fiction. If anything I was more put off that Global and other local media burry their heads in the sand as far as the other voice in this “issue” is concerned. I like Ched talk radio because when this topic comes up there are a few hosts like George Noory and others on our own local talk radio that support the skeptic side. The television media has yet been able to address the other voice in this issue. Talk about fair and balanced news reporting.
Today I’m going in at 4pm and hopefully I’m going to have a decent night. Tomorrow, I’m up early to go to work and in the afternoon when I come home I want to go in and pick up that printer scanner. I’ll get the hard drive another time. Next week I’m going in for Mon 4 hours, Tues, Wed, Thurs for 7 hours each. Fr is 3.5 and Saturday for the 4 hours giving me 31.5 hours. I’d like to go to the emergent meeting next week but I need to put the hours in for the medical plan so I can get my teeth done.
Sorry for all this crap on global warming. It’s just we’re in oil country here and oil drives our economy. Most Americans love their guns and if the gun lobby decided to pull an Al Gore on firearms the anti gun lobby would be where the environmentalists are now. Much is the same way about our local economy driven by the oil and gas industry here.
Tonight after work it’s wrestling and I’m going to enjoy that before reading time.
If I’m lucky I might even get a bit of work done on F today.
I'm still trying to get a handle on this formatting
That’s all for now.
