Back to the grind |
|
my wrestling show starts in about 15 minutes. Anne and I were watching a Global special on Black Friday, 1987 20 years ago. That brought back memories of working unsupervised (more or less) at the Army & Navy ware house. Those were good times in the 80’s. Army & Navy got out of the warehousing game back in 1993. They still owned Cobogo warehouse where I worked for 7 years for most of the 1980’s right up until about 2001. I get melancholy about those days now that I’m getting older and bored with Xl. The economy is good and I’d like to take advantage of it while I can so I think I’m going to go have a shave tomorrow or this week and put my name in for the Security guard job. I won’t leave Xl until I get the job and I’ll tell Rob if I get it that it will only be temporary. “Just to try something else as I feel like I’m burning out here.” If the guard company can give me the grave yard shift (gys) and if all they need is a body in a building and I’m on the LRT run and it’s an 80% sit down job and I get 4 day son and 3 off at $12/hour then I’ll take it. I’ll keep it for as long as I can. Even better if the job doesn’t require me to where a uniform.
I got one scene in F accomplished and 4 more to go. But the novel itself has a long way to go before it’s even anywhere near copy ready.
My friend Keith has a post up on his site called 26 ways to monetize your Blog. I don’t want to get into any surveys unless it’s SF book reviews for free books. I wouldn’t mind something like that if the client isn’t in a hurry for a book review. I can certainly read one book a month when and if I get the security guard job. But at the same time I don’t want to have this site a book reviewer’s site. I could see a format like at SF Signal.
Well, that’s my long weekend. Anne and I had a couple of blow ups and all but for the most part it was relaxing but fast.
So Wednesday I might go over to the Wee Book Inn on my way into work and see what I can find, SF wise. I’ll leave out of here about 3:30pm so I get there by 4pm and I have half an hour to shop around. It’s sorting through all the broken series they have but that’s with most any book store.
not much I can do in F right now as I’ve got to leave for work at 4pm. But I’m going to get back to it this afternoon once I blog this. I got up about 5;45am to do the cbi thing and read for about half an hour. Then I was back to bed by 7am and I had a bit of a trouble sleeping for about an hour tossing and turning and then I put the earplugs back in my ears and I passed out until about 12:45pm. I think I got a total of 5 hours sleep. I could use some more.
The other thing I need to pick up from Moore’s (The suit people) is a white short sleeve dress shirt that fits me well in the neck and a clip on tie. I had forgotten about this because Lodge is coming September 6th. Still I may as well get the shirt and tie, while I have the money. So I’ll be doing that this week as well.
Anyway that’s all for now..
