It's a Thursday |

well I went to bed early last night listening to a great show on Coast about time travel. I dozed off here and there during the show. Then after the news in the first half they talked about Black holes and particle accelerators. When Richard Hoagland came on and talked about yesterdays Endeavour shuttle launch he made reference to the Challenger disaster 1986 and I had forgotten that last year was the 20th anniversary of that event. I was working at Cobogo warehouse on that January 23rd 1986 and I think it was Hazel that had the radio on when the news broke. I was pretty shaken up over it and I made a diary entry how I felt about the tragedy how I told myself this will set the space program back years and it did. I couldn’t get back to sleep having a bit of energy from dozing off. Fortunately thanks to my even job I don’t have to get up early in the morning to go to work. Anne hadn’t been to bed yet and was out in the front room watching some cheesy movie and went to bed just after 4am. I stayed up a bit later saying I’d be back in bed around 6am as I wanted to read and do some writing, which I did. I worked on one scene for F and wanted to listen to some music on You Tube. After I did the cbi thing I went back to bed and other then to get up and pee I slept pretty good. I woke up about 11am and just laid in bed and rested until about 11:45am. I got up to fix a coffee and watch some of the highlights on the news and here I am.
It’s been rather cooler over the last couple of days. I think today were supposed to get to a daytime high of +14C. Yikes. It’s supposed to warm up on the weekend as were supposed to climb up to about 20.
We’ve got the Carriwest festival this weekend and coming up also this weekend is the Edmonton Folk Festival. That’s starting out tonight. Then if that’s not enough, we have the Fringe coming up I think next week to wrap up festival summer. Used to be we would start all the festivals end of may early June. In this case they didn’t get under way until mid June. The City is starting to holding them on at the same time. That’s what is hurting the attendance at the Edmonton Grand prix. Lets see, we have the Street performers festival, Jazz City, Taste of Edmonton, Grand prix, Capital X, Carriwest, Folk fest and lastly the Fringe. So that’s about 8 festivals in the city. And we had The Police here in early June and we also had FIFA U-20. Add all that and the Eskimos football drawing huge crowds and with all the Oiler talk it’s been a wild summer.
This afternoon it’s off to work and I’ll get my pay cheaque. These days Rob doesn’t post the bank report until Friday and it’s always nice to know what I banked in the last week.
Anyway that’s all for now..
