I left out of here at 4pm Friday afternoon and I brought enough cash for a couple of books. I went into work and the afternoon shift had ended. The bank report was out. $1,421 this week. Nice. I called Chapters to see if they had some books for me. They had Kay Kenyon’s “Seeds of Time“ and Vernon Vinge’s “Rainbows end“. Yes they would reserve them for me at the main desk. Great. For work we did CCSD and I had a slow start. I knocked off a $100 and the sales came in from there. I ended up with $790. I would have had $815 but the $25 “yes” wouldn’t let me verify the address so I couldn’t count that. Anne had called at break. She wanted to give me that $10 reward points for Coles but I was going the other way towards Chapters on the South side. Whyte Ave to be exact. I got to the corner just up from the Keg and Anne called and I walked her into the store. I went upstairs to have a look around. There are a few offerings there. I might go to Coles and get that “Space Opera” Trade collection after work. It’s $5 bucks more then the gift card and I can get a bit of lunch in the food court. That sounds like a good idea. But that’s after work.
Last night at work I was looking at a multi page Walmart flyer and they’ve got some good deals here. I saw a 250mb Seagate external hard drive for under $100. Duo Core processor 1Gb laptops for under $800. Pretty good but that’s just an example. I want to mainly get that dress shirt and clip on tie before the next lodge meeting. Cash on hand is about $35 and some change. Anne gave me her Coles reward points but also pretty soon we’ll need to top up our Telus phone account as well.
I don’t mind putting the extra hours in. I’m usually exhausted though by 7pm and when it’s break I like to get away from my dialer for a few minutes. Just to get outside and get some air. Working the phones like that can be pretty stressful. Of course then again there’s the insulin. I usually take that there at just around the shift change at 4:30pm. But that may all change if I take a security guard job.
I’ve been doing telemarketing strait without a break for the last 7 years. I think it’s time for a change. If this guard company expects me to just be a body in the building, keep awake, then that’s great and works for me. I can read books and eventually bring a little laptop computer in to do my work. Great.
So then on my plate today it’s go into work and put my 4 hours in. After that I might just go up to Coles and get that book or just forget the idea and go home. I might be too wiped out. I can always do that next weekend.
I still haven’t completed Spin. I hope to do that today. I’d like to write up a small first impression/review type thing. Then I can give you guys a thumbs up or down on the book. I’ll reserve my comments until I’m done. Hopefully this weekend. You should see something on Sunday, maybe even tonight.
Tonight after I’ve had a nap I want to work on F and get that completed as well. Then F takes a break and I work on GA. This is my next writing project. So far with this book, there is very little research that needs to be done. It’s just a strait good old SF romp. It’s an interesting premise.
I don’t know what I’m going to do about those Work in Progress bars on my website. Markus says I should edit them. If he can show me how but lately he’s been AWOL. The other thing website wise, is I’m still looking at ways in how to monitories my site. I need to also know how I can interface Pay Pall with my bank. My chum Keith Graham has provided a link offering 26 different ways other then “Adsense and Amazon” to make some cash from ones website. Nothing wrong with these two schemes and I’m still investigating them. I hope to have some of these schemes in place by the end of the year. I mean it’s more or less free money right? I’m not saying I’m going to get rich off this but if I can get a little cash to help pay towards my ISP connection and website hosting, then great. This website costs me $100/year to host. I’d like to have it self sustainable.
Anyway that’s all for now
