A new week |
|
my wife developed a soar throat over the weekend. Like me she also works in a call center but she’s into the telephone survey line. She had the humidifier on for parts of the morning. She should take a couple of days off. I’ll pick up the slack and go in for Tuesday and the rest of the week until she’s better. What’s this Merv Griffin died? More on this later.
We were in bed by 3am and I past out by about 3:15am. I got up to pee a couple of times but other then that I slept ok until about 7:10am and I did the cbi thing. Having need to read for a bit, I opened up “Grasp the Stars.” Or GTS and read and took down some notes until just a little after 8am. I put my earplugs in and tried to sleep. Sleep came hard but I did get a few hours. I think I get about 6 hours all in all. I woke up at noon had my first coffee and watched the news.
What a shocker in the entertainment news, Merv Griffin dead at 83. He made popular the 1940’s song; "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts." According to Wikipedia Danny Kaye made the song a hit before Griffin. But most people I think associate the song with Griffin. Griffins accomplishments are all over the web as. I remember him from the “Merv Griffin show” in 1965. I recall watching some of those shows while enduring the recovery stage of my back operation in 1967. I always liked MG. He died from prostrate cancer being diagnosed in 1996. He was 71 when he learned he had cancer and it seemed to have gone into remission but returned July 19th of this year. It took him within a month. The thing is though, he smoked all his life and that could have played a role in his cancer, I’m not a MD but I doubt smoking had anything to do with him getting prostrate cancer. Actually Edgar and I at work were making references to Merv Griffin just on Saturday.
Anyway that’s all for now
