A sigh of releif |
|
that was a close call. This morning I needed to check on some JFK stuff and so I fired up my computer and launched Google. After of course allowing the usual p2p files access. Then I went to launch Google and nothing but the hourglass curser. This just sat there for 5 minutes not allowing me to do anything. A sign something was amiss. I couldn’t even shut down properly. Uh-oh, now what? I did an improper shutdown and reboot, still the same problem and another improper shutdown. I was getting worried. So, I figured well I didn’t want to stay up all morning fooling around with this thing. I needed to get back to bed.
Trying to fall asleep I had my computer on my mind. What if I had to get the Geeks again and I’d be without a computer for 2 weeks? Then it hit me—why not boot up the computer again and go into the control panel and remove some of the programs thats causing my firewall to be overworked. So I got up about 20 minutes ago from being all slept out and put the kettle on for coffee and fired up the computer. I removed some programs that were slowing the OS down. Ares is now my default p2p site. I still have one more that’s pulling my OS rowboat under the waterline.
Good news this morning I completed the first rewrite of F. (Confetti party horn) Now I’m compiling 3 stats (doing this by hand and not with a spreadsheet) 1.)Original word count by scene 2.) New words to show the new word count 3.)Added words to the overall document I’ll give a first rewrite draft report of these 3 stats when they’re completed. Soon.
If I ever go off line for one reason or another, you’ll know I’m having computer woes. At the moment my W98 is about the most stable computer I have until I get extra Ram for my XP.
That’s all for now,
e. Jim
