Just another day

I’m 55 today, how about that. I’d say being a senior is when your retired and on a pension. I’m at least 10 years away from that. But after a 3 day long weekend birthday or no birthday it’s back to work I go.  At least I’m not celebrating it alone but today is just another day. I've never been big on birthdays.

I’m enjoying my first cup of coffee for the day.

Last night after Raw, I took a T3 and they put me right out as well but compromise my Diebeties.  We were in bed by 3am. Our usual time. I like these hours because it gives me more time on the computer especially after the news at midnight but lately it’s been a slow news week as were into the dog days of summer.

This morning I got up around 6am to do the icb thing and read for a bit. I decided to work on a scene for F, one of the missing scenes. I’m going to do something experimental with this scene by changing the POV character in the middle of the scene. At the risk of revealing a spoiler the C people play a pivotal part in the story and I can’t expect the lead character to carry all of the conflict in this fast pace story. But the people that play such an important part in the story should carry some of the conflict load, especially in their own element. So I’m going to use the # key to denote POV changes. This isn’t a very big scene, if anything it’s going to be about 1,500 words because I’ve got another C scene, actually a couple of them.  I think everything and anything can be done in writing as long as it’s well executed and the reader doesn’t feel lost. Most of these added scenes take place in the middle of the story anyway.

This afternoon it’s off to work at 4pm. Anne is coming in with me. She called the office for me last night because I was in some discomfort saying I wasn’t coming in last night but I’d be in for today. She left the message on the answering machine because nobody would pick up the phone at 5pm. Not much I can do about that.

Raw last night wasn’t bad, on a scale of 1-10 I’d rate it an 8 it had a sub plot and a main storyline. Vince has a bastard child running around and according to Stephanie that child is a “WWE Superstar”. They’ve “narrowed it down” to a man.  I think its Erich Bishoff myself but their going to announce this at “summer slam” next weekend. I love sports entertainment. The WWE are on the right track working story lines and tying the main outcomes together at a pay per view. Wrestling is fun to watch now.

Because it’s my birthday and I’m a Telus client Telus lets me have unlimited local calling for today only. They do that with all their clients, which is a pretty good deal really. As far as I know the other service providers don’t have this feature. Also Telus has a pretty good music service as well and I think its $1.29 a track. The tracks I downloaded last night all have pops and hisses in them and missing parts of the song scratched up and in many cases rendering them inaudible. I tried with no success using several wave editors to eliminate these unwanted noises. I liked the tracks I downloaded but unless I can eliminate the pops and cracks the tracks are all but useless to me. Maybe that’s why “they are free.” But buying the songs from Telus might be my next option. The thing is I once owned a lot of these songs when they initially came out in vinyl. Also Telus has Spark, which lets me watch TV on my cell phone if I ever want it. A feature I’ve always been looking for since cell phones have become so ubiquitous has been AM local radio. I can get FM on a cell phone but FM isn’t important to me.  FM has nothing but music I don’t want. Spark also carried XM satellite radio with 22 stations but the majority of those stations are FM music stations, yawn. I get lots of FM music stations on my little Mp3 player. But downloading tracks from Telus seems like a pretty good idea and because it’s my birthday today I have unlimited local calling.  For 5 bucks a month extra my wife and I tried the 100 minutes feature last month and it worked well but she says we seldom ever use it anyway.

 That’s all for now,

e. Jim
