A long post today |

Anne made us a nice supper, veal baby potato, peas bun and pastry for desert. Along with my 50+ multi vitamin and flax oil. Ending this with some sleepy time tea. All in all, it’s been a pretty good night.
This morning and afternoon: Igot up on the late side of doing the cbi thing this morning. I had 3.5 good solid hours of sleep. Getting up this late surprised me. I ate my breakfast after my insulin shot and then decided to read for about half an hour. About 10 minutes into my reading I decided to take a bsl reading and my blood sugar was like 22.8!!! Unreal. It hasn’t been this high since my Doctor phoned me saying I could have diabetes and urged me to the Royal Alex hospital ASAP. That was June 30th 2004 while I was working at Xl in the old office. I mean I’ve had a lot of 8’s and 10’s that sort of thing but my bsl readings never stay that way. If I went and jogged around the bloc that alone would have brought it down. Instead I decided to go back to bed but I began to worry what could have caused the bsl spike in the first place? It couldn’t have been the oatmeal. It had nothing but dried fruit and some raisins. It was pre packaged stuff but nothing that would make my bsl reading rise like that. Could it have been all that licorice candy I had last night? No doubt the leading culprit. I didn’t sleep very well after that, I was lucky if I got 3 hours.
My web guy Markus has yet to put my template request together. I’m hoping I’ll have something up by Labor Day weekend. I wont increase my websites functionality, but it will make it look a bit better. Right now the only thing active with my website is my Blog. I can get a free Blog from anywhere but I want to do more with this website then just a Blog. Eventually under the science fiction menu I’d like to have a sub menu called “My short stories.” I’ve got two published right now with links to one of them in About me. I’m trying to find a way that will let me know if people are actually reading my fiction rather then just click on a link that takes them to the source. I’m not sure how even that’s going to go.
Getting back to tracking stories, I liked Keith’s Sciencefictional idea. At least it showed me how many views the story got. This is the closest thing yet I’ve seen that shows any kind of “story monitoring.” With my stat counter it can show me how long a visitor has been to a page. But since Keith owns the rights to “Crosshairs” (does he?) and Static Movement owns the rights to “Zombies of Sleep” (do they?) I can’t post them here without permission. I can post story excerpts and link to the zines, but Sciencefictional is defunct. I think I’ve got the “Crosshairs” story roaming around on my w98 computer. What I think I need are individual story pages of unpublished stories (I have plenty of them). My stat counter can track how long a visitor stays at a page. If I get 20 views on a story and put a project in for each story, Stat Counter will tell me how long that visitor stayed. If it takes 10 minutes to read a story, that will reflect in how long each visitor has stayed at that page/story. I’d even take captha comments from people. “Story sucks” “Story rocks” type thing. I don’t know, I’m just thinking out loud here.
On Coast last night we got a glimpse at what’s going on up there with HAARP. There’s a lot of strange stories about HAARP. Some say it’s used as a weapon for weather modification and all kinds of things. HAARP, like the Philadelphia experiment are two topics that have always interested me.
Also, in Coasts strange stories, according to Canadian astronaut Clark McClelland in an off the cuff interview with Dr. Von Braun, (the German V-2 rocket scientist) was at Roswell during the time of the “Roswell incident“. Von Braun died in 1977. Von Braun and his team of German scientists were testing and launching (unarmed I hope) captured German V-2 rockets in the area. Von Braun was invited to take a look at the Roswell crash site and he (McClelland) in this private interview and under confidence from Von Braun never to reveal their conversation to anyone, told McClelland what he had found at Roswell. He said he saw material from the crashed site that was almost skin like and alien bodies etc. The article is quite involved. Weather or not McClelland is fabricating any of this is hard to tell. I’m not sure I’m buying the story but you can read it on the Coast website in today’s at the bottom of the page. It’s an interesting read.
Now this is just plain silly. To help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original Star Wars movie 1977, in late October Nasa and Lucas/Hollywood/what have you thought it would be real cool to have Luke Skywalker’s light saber prop to go visit the space station. Why not send the main characters of Star Wars up instead before old age takes them? I’m sure Mark Hamil would love to go into space along with Harrison, Ford Carrie Fisher and even George himself. Now that would have been way cooler to have them go up maybe even in costume yet (except George of course). So they send up a prop instead. Silly. You can read more about this stupid publicity stunt over there at SF Signal in the left sidebar. See link under “Great folk Great reading” near the bottom.
Finally were getting some nice weather today as I’m enjoying my first cup of coffee. Anne got her cheaque in and from the black sheep money her sister sends Anne and Anne’s pay cheaque we got enough money for Septembers rent. I get my cheaque today but it’s probably going to be just enough to cover our bus passes and give me $10 bucks. We’ve got enough food in the apartment and after we get the beer we’ll have about $40 bucks left and I get another cheaque next week so we’re ok.
Speaking of this weekend, it’s the Labor Day weekend. One of the most popular aspects of this weekend at least here in Alberta is the labor Day classic. Now I’m not a football fan per sé but I like to watch a bit f this one. It’s Edmonton vs. Calgary. Two points are on the board and both teams are struggling to make the play offs. The game Monday is usually held there in Calgary and then comes up here next Friday for the grudge match. You know winter is just around the corner when the Labor Day classic is on. A longer post today but,
Anyway that’s all for now
