Work, Leprecons and Law courts |

I went into work feeling tensed about missing Saturday. I met Jay at the entrance into Carona and he gave me the details as to what happened as a result of people missing Saturday. Some big changes about to take place. I worked my way across the parking lot trying to come up with something for Will. He was out in the front with Melody. I just said I slept in and came within a hairs length of heading into a diabetic coma. I woke up at noon. So he just said we’ll talk about that later (me missing time that is. So I got inside and Anne called me. I felt a bit more at ease. Then Rob loitered around apparently ready to lower the boom on people that weren’t here. Uh-oh. I faked a diabetic kind of a woozy feeling. He seemed a bit worried for me and actually said something about this episode being part of the talk he wanted to have with people missing Saturday. “No,” I lied. At the break if we made enough of the “Go home (in Unison) early shout”, we’d go home early. We tried and Will let us go at 8:40pm. Great for me because if I’m early enough I can catch that early train home. Apparently they were going to shut peoples dialers off and bring them in for a scolding. I got my first sale on a credit card. I apologized for coming in late and it was my being diabetic that saved my bacon. Then I got a few more sales and I felt better. On my 5th sale I got $300 sale on a credit card no less. It just went from there. I ended up with my best total of all time Xl closing in at $1900. Will said if I can break $2,000 he’d give me a $20 bonus. I worked hard at it and I ended up at $2,220. My highest total ever.
Overnight: Google earth and a bit of persistent searching this morning helped to identify a building for me in New Westminster. Today this building is the New Westminster law courts building that opened in 1981. But back when I was 22 living on the corner of McKenzie and Carnvon St. the courthouse was a parking lot. I lived there right up until 1975 but I got out of there not because of land reclamation or anything like that but because I couldn’t afford the rent any more. It was immediately after that I moved into the Anderson house in 1976. It was there that I had the desire that someday I’d become a science fiction writer. I didn’t have a typewriter at the time nor any books on writing. It wasn’t until I discovered Google earth last year to do a search of the old premises that until now everything came through for me. The building of course is long gone but I had fond memories living there. New Westminster isn’t the same place it used to be. I could never go back there to live.
Anyway, now that all the stress of the job is released from earlier I can concentrate on my writing. Speaking of which I’m currently writing an essay giving my opinion of this current global warning debate. I’ll post it under my “For what it’s worth” section.
I watched Raw last night. On a scale of 1-10, I’d rate this show a 10. After weeks of Vince needing to learn who his bastard son is , we learn that it’s, Finley’s Leprecon Hornswoggle of all people. What a hoot.
Anyway that’s all for now
