Work, odds n' ends, reading and other crap |

I left out of here at 4pm yesterday and I caught a bus to the LRT. My usual ritual. It’s very nice weather out there. I had this crawl in my mind I wasn’t going to do as well as I had hoped last night because the source for AES is drying up. I had a lot slower night. By break I was at $455 and a couple of decent credit cards, I felt better. Then I got to thinking in the 2nd half a better way to develop my speil. I don't mention the mailing anymore and it seems to get me more credit cards. I got a $50 credit card and that’s a $5 bonus. Plus BB and I were tied for the credit card race bonus at 5 each. So we split that at $5 making that $10 in bonuses. So that means $30 for the week if I get it. I got a call from Anne just before 7pm and I ended up with $895 and $155 in 5 credit cards, So far ytd I banked $6,735 in credit cards. If they paid me ytd gross even $9,000 I think I banked more then $2,000 ytd. Ytd even from January I banked (including credit cards)to current I banked $52,755. And that takes me up to August 31st. That’s when they stopped the banking report for the “new system.” Basically I banked 6 times what they paid me so far. And this is just part time. I figure that since September I banked a minimum of $1,000/week. That’s 7 weeks or about $7,000 minimum. I’d say when the new “bank system” comes out my bank will be about $60,000 ytd and there’s still another 10 weeks left in the year. I figure I’ll be banking $72,000 by the time it’s all said and done.
Anyway we got out 20 min early which was welcomed. "Guns n Roses" playing at Rexal. I was home by 9:30pm. Awesome.
In doing a bit of research I found out the opening date of the new, New Westminster Courthouse, which was September 25 1981. Allowing about 2 years for construction I’d say they broke ground for the courthouse 1979. Four years prior to when I last lived there. In another article I read about the New Westminster Law courts building it was completed in 14 months. So 14 months from September 1981. This means that 14 months from September 1980 they broke ground for the building which had to be sometime in August 1980. So from 1975-1980, 5 years of life in my old studio apartment.
Well I get a break tonight. Good stuff. Coast has a boring week but keep in mind October is Halloween month so they are not going to have a lot of UFO shows on or the kinds of topics I like. But they do have a UFO abduction show tonight. I like listening to Georges other news stories after the local news at 3am.
I stumbled upon this guys “daily photo blog” of New Westminster. He said how his rent is $550/month. That’s probably a one bedroom apartment but then again they have rent controls on BC. He sounds like a teacher. I’m trying to look for a photo of the new law courts building under construction. I replied to this Dennis Hurd fellow owner of the blog on his Fliker site. If I get any results it might be spam. I'm not holding my breath for a reply.
One thing I can’t wait to do with F, once this rewrite is done is to take out what I call guide words. Or labels. Once these are out I’ll have a better idea what my word count is. Right now I think it’s sitting at 90k. I’m trying to get it around 90-100k. If the finale word count is 92k then I’ll be extremely happy.
Weather forecasters were calling for about +8C today but it’s gone higher then that already at +14C, which is pretty good for this time of year.
I think Anne said she’s going in for the 4pm shift with me this afternoon so she cans sleep a little longer. As for me I think I got 7 hours. That’s more then enough.
As for reading “A Thousand words for a Stranger”, so far my progress is pretty good. I read about 10 pages/day and at page 162 it’s coming along nicely. I’m traditionally a slow reader anyways. I don’t understand these people that can read a book a day. I mean are they really reading every word or scanning bits and pieces of a page? That’s not reading and certainly not enjoying the book. I have another 267 pages of this book left to read and unlike the Charles Stross book I plan on sticking with it until the end. At 10 pages/day this book will take me about 27 days to read :-) I should be finished about Remembrance Day Nov 11th. If we get a holiday Monday. Anyway, I’m going to post this and get back to my own book.
About 8 hours later: Having my first coffee. That’s enough of going down memory lane for awhile. I couldn’t sleep very well around 3am. The curse of being diabetic I suppose. I stayed up until 5:30pm and that’s when I did the cbi thing and went back to bed.Anyway, that’s all for now.
