We're back, with a vengence too. |
|
okay first my website goes down as of Thursday. I’ve got Blogger as a back up at least. Then as I was going to Blog something about 20 after midnight this morning, the power goes off in the apartment. Not all of it. We’re left with the fridge working and a hall outlet. We got the extension cords out and rigged the bedroom fan to work and a radio. The power was being shut down all over the place, off and on all night, so this could go at anytime. The problem is underground. So, Anne rigged up cables and extensions and we’ve got the TV working. We also have the computer and Internet up and running as well. For now. Epcor (Edmonton Utilities) is working on the problem.
At least I have my website up and running that’s good news. Markus thinks it’s a mistake on their end. Watch the shitheads will blame it on “global warming” or some such nonsense.
Speaking of, which those Greenpeace idiots went and erected a black and white banner over the High Level bridge here in Edmonton that read “Stop the tar sands.” They mean Alberta Tar sands oil. Yeah right, the life blood of our economy here in Alberta and for that matter the country. “Stop the tar sands.” Yeah, send thousands of people out of work (except the environmentalists they get most of their funding from Denmark) “Stop the tar sands.” Oh yeah, when Mrs. Jones signs up and makes a donation to Greenpeace she isn’t getting a tax receipt. Greenpeace has lost its tax exempt status here in Canada back in 1999 (but they won't tell you that) when the only good thing the Liberal Chrétien Government did was declare that Greenpeace serves no public good. Putting a sign up on the High Level bridge that says stop “Stop the tar dands." is a prime example. I hope someone tears the sign down. I mean how gulible can these people be? I know this might turn some people off that read this blog but it is my blog and when my livelyhood is being threatened, damn rights I'm going to fight back. Don’t these Greenpeace idiots realize that the Alberta Tar sands is the life blood of our local economy? I'm sure they do. Obviously most of these people are young and idealistic. I doubt most of them were born before 1982 and if so are to young to remember the devastating affect that the National Energy Program had on our economy. The NEP sent Alberta into an economic recession that took years to recover. They might say to me: “You’ve been bought and sold by the oil companies.” To that I say, and “You’ve been bought and sold by Al Gore and his political grandstanding. An inconvenient Truth, indeed!” The truth of the matter is that there is no evidence that suggests C02 drives climate change. And I’m not going to become a economic victim because of some whacky environmentalists, think they’re doing me and the rest of the world a favor.
To fight Greenpeace, at every opportunity, I’m telling Mrs. Jones on the phone on my evening job, not to donate to Greenpeace for the simple reason that they do not get a tax receipt. If I can talk to and convince one person coast to coast not to support Greenpeace/night, then I’m fighting back and that’s the best I can do. If I can get the word out to one person/night, and for them to pass it along, then I’m doing my part. One person/night is my goal and I talk to a lot of people coast to coast all across this great country of ours. The message is simple. “Don’t donate to Greenpeace. You won’t get a tax receipt because the Federal Government has declared that Greenpeace serves no public good.” If I can get that across to one person/night, that’s 6 people/week. That’s 312 people/year. And not just that, I have others where I work that will join me to get the message out. It’s time to fight back. My politics are simple. Im Center Left and a strong Uunion supporter. The Trades help to build our economy. These Union workers are the sinu of our economy and without Tarsand development their employment is being compromised as well. Greenpeace is a small animal with no teeth but they are a voice that can reach some people. I'm certain here in Alberta we have people that know better then to buy into Greenpeace and their antics.
Okay, enough of that. This site is supposed to be about my science fiction and fantasy writing. I didn’t get much writing done on the weekend but as long as my computer works, I’ll get some done this afternoon. I hope. Now it’s time to Blog this and put the entry on my Blogger site as well.
Pardon the typos, I haven't much light around here.
Anyway, that’s all for now
e. Jim
