The afternoon commute, work , family life and other crap. |
|
I went into work on my own, as I like it. No one yakking at me and nobody bothering me. I like the ride in alone because it sets me up for the evening. If I’m in with Anne often she likes to pick a fight with me and we end up arguing and fighting over something stupid. It’s a pleasure going in alone most of the time. I got topside at Corona and sat outside enjoying the mild (for this time of year) air. So I sat watching the traffic commute home and most of the cars downtown were single occupied vehicles and most of the people behind the wheel were on their cell phones with one hand on the wheel. Nice. What’s more, is most of thee people were women.
Anyway I met Will out there at work and sort of explained what happened and when we got power partially restored. I got to a dialer and Will moved me over to Paralympic Sports Association. The Big taps. Good thing he did too because I was getting sale after sale. I even got 5 credit cards. Not big ones or anything like that but I got about $100 bucks in credit cards, and I finally won not one Nevada but 2. Each one is for $4 each for a total of $8. Bog deal. Only if your at line hour. I wasn’t at line hour but I had top total in the whole room-again. Rob also released the bank report. Yawn, nobody got any bank bonus because it was read at 5 weeks but because he delayed everything to 9 weeks everything was watered down. Robs way not to pay out bank bonuses. I’d be extremely suspicious if he even pays me the $40 from all the credit cards from last week, never mind the silly Nevada‘s. It took me about 40 credit cards to win just one and I won 2 back to back.
I’m going to research the security guard job and work part time in January. Once hired I’m going to, take a leave of absence from Xl and apply for the security guards license. If the SG says I can have the license then I’ll still work the guard company part time. Then I’ll go and say to Rob that I’ve got something better and if he can match my salary. I can always go back to Xl but the guard company I want to work for according to the other Rob, said they pay $16/hour. If Rob can pay me even $12/hour, I’ll stay. If not, then I’m going to try out at the guard company. It’s a lonely kind of a job. I’ll miss the people at Xl. But I’ll have a laptop computer and my cell phone and I’ll be able to afford a monthly wifi connection. If the job is on an lrt run and graveyards 10-6, Wed and Thursday off, 20/40 easy patrolling, then awesome. Count me in. Just hink of all the books I can read and all the writing I can get done. I'd be home in time to take my insulin as well and crawl into bed withmy lovely wife.
Jay was saying in his blog recently how he finished his novel he's been working on. That’s pretty fast. It takes me about 10 weeks to write a rough draft and that’s at almost 10k/week including weekends. It doesn't account weeks of pre careful planning and elaborate character sketches. Then the rough draft begins. Then comes the editing and the 1st rewrite and the 2nd rewrite which I’m on now. It takes me a good year to complete a novel. The differences between J’s writing and mine is I like to work from an established set of scenes. I know what is going to happen in each scene and there is room for changes if I need to make any along the way. I also like to have complete bio’s of my characters out of these I know where to draw my subplots from. Like Robert J Sawyer, J just dives right in. He gets an idea and goes with it and that seems to work for him. Apparently Holy Lisle likes the dive in method so does my friend Charles. I just think the story tends to meander too much by writing that way. I like the idea of having control.
It seems that my website has been really slow since it was shut down for 3 days. The main culprit has been this Frapper map I installed it. It seems to slow down at the menus end of things so I deleted the Frapper Block since it wasn't working for me and nobody was using it. Now things are back to normal and I get regular load times.
Anyway, that’s all for now
e. Jim
