I got up on the late side this morning, 7:00am. I could have gone into work and the evening off to watch the hockey game. Since Anne got paid today we don’t need the cheque that badly. So I get $20 for tomorrow and I want to be able to go into work Friday morning and at least put in 4 hours and have the weekend off. It’s Friday night lodge night and I Grey Cup Sunday. I went back to bed about 7:30am after I read through some of “Space Opera”. I had a little trouble sleeping but managed to sleep off and on. I think I got at least 7 hours sleep.
So, this weekend: Friday, Strathcona lodge. Saturday, I want to run downtown to The Source and check out their keyboards. I might be at work anyway. I don't know yet. After that it’s the Oilers hosting Chicago hockey game at Rexall on CBC and that’s an 8pm start. Sunday: I want to finishing up the 2nd rewrite of F. I still have a couple of rough spots in there where some scenes need a more clearer explanation. I think there are areas in there where I can get the highlights and trim out a couple of scenes without losing the action but I need a hard copy. Maybe Mo can get one for me. The above are the highlights planned for me for this weekend.
I also want to work on my science fiction meets fantasy novel. I began writing that around mid September but felt uncomfortable just diving in with no clear outline or agenda. I don’t like to write that way. There are only a handful of writers I know that can handle writing like that Robert J Sawyer, Holy Lisle, J Allan Erwine, and my buddy Charles. That’s where writers block comes into play. I don’t like having to learn whole new writing skills just because I don’t know where the heck the story is going. I like to storyboard my novel and knowing where I’m going to end up scene by scene. It just works for me.
Some changes to the website have been made. I cleaned out a lot of crap in the menu area on my left sidebar. It was extraneous information. I also reworded the Mission statement a little better. Markus received a screen shot from me last night showing him what I wanted to do with the Mission statement and I hope he can move the block under the “Welcome to my science fiction/fantasy website”. The idea is to have the Adsense crawlers pick up on those two keywords right away. The Welcome message is Static.
So tonight is Coasts JFK night. Well it is the anniversary of the assassination of JFK 44 years ago today. I went to the Deally Plaza Webcam just now and had a look around. Seems a crowd of people are collecting behind the trees on the grassy knoll. Next year will be the big year because it’s the 45th anniversary of the assassination. I recall a couple of years ago on the alt.jfk board one of the posters there took me to task when I discussed the so called “convenient deaths” of the witness to that tragic day. Yet Helen Markham, Butch Burrougs and Wesley Frazier are still alive. Frazier is the fellow who drove Oswald into work that morning. There are others that are still alive as well.
So tonight I’m going to go into work and at break I’ll put the hockey game on. I’ll also be getting my pay cheque and call Anne and work out the rest of the evening. Then it’s home and even though I’ll be up early I still want to try and go in for Friday morning. If not then it’s into work Saturday morning. That’s probably a better idea because I’ll be right downtown to check in on at The Source anyway.
Anyway, that’s all for now
