Monday night recap and today |

Recap from last night: work went well, although I left with a soar throat, the beginnings of a cold. I bought some Halls at the Redi mart. They seemed to help a bit. My voice was scratchy all night which probably accounted for my poor showing as I got $380 on the night. We Didn’t have a full house that’s for sure. It Didn’t dawn on me to buy ice cream at the drugstore because ice cream helps. Hopefully I’ll have this over with in awhile. I also got x2 30 credit cards and 6 points for the team. Since I’m off today (as I let Moe know in advance that I’ll most likely not be in and not to expect me if those cold gets worse.) Besides I want to do a few Cw calls. I rode in with the 3 East India fellows. Nice enough guys. I got in and watched Raw, while Anne went to get me some ice cream.
I did some more reading from “The New Space Opera” and the best story so far is been the one I’m reading now: “Winning Peace” by Paul J. Mcauley. I’m really enjoying this story. It’s got some good tight writing. As a result of this I’m beginning to get a respect for military science fiction. “The New Space Opera” starts off slow but builds from there. So far it’s a pretty good book.
Last night’s Raw wasn’t bad. On a scale from one to 10, I’d give it a 6. I stayed up later to do some work on the keyboard learning the right hand part to “Mary had a little lamb.” I also know “Twinkle-twinkle little star.” Just the right hand notes. This is grade three material but you’ve got to start some where I guess. I’m enjoying this and learning this mostly from YouTube. I’m slowly learning notation and sight reading. I want to be able to read sheet music.
This afternoon and before the hockey game I’m going to work a bit more on “NXS-17” my short story as I nurse this cold. I’ve got some good ideas for the story as well and an alternate ending that I think might punch up the story a bit more.

This morning: Anne had made me a plate for waffles this morning and I did the cbi thing. My soar throat and is fully developed now and Anne wants me to do Cw tonight? I barely have voice to talk much less do anything else. Hopefully this will last just a couple of days and not over the holidays. I’ll be glad when January rolls around and the holidays are over. Maybe there might even be a new job in the market for me as well.|
