we went to bed about 3:15am this morning. This is a bit rushed so i'll clean it up later:
A bit later then usual. Coast was great last night in an all UFO show taking about disclosure and other things UFO related. Of course I don’t believe in flying saucers from Et myself. You can find more about that elsewhere on this site. I find it hard to believe that a race capable of that kind of technology would spend the resources just to get here and not expose themselves. You know land on the White House lawn and say: “Take me to your leader.” They would have done that years ago. So in case my hunch is wrong, what would be the main reason(s) why Et would not expose themselves here in some dramatic way? My hunch is because we are rare in this part of the Galaxy. “That’s being arrogant.” No it’s not. The Galaxy is a pretty big place and existed long before we got here. Let me play Devil’s advocate here for a moment. People might say, “Maybe Et is just waiting for us to develop faster then light (ftl) travel before they announce themselves.” And that’s as a realistic assumption as anything else. Some may even think there is a secret cabal of Et out there that is against Earth gaining ftl travel, so they buy us off with trinkets to keep us occupied. You know: “Let’s give them the Internet, that should keep them happy for another 25 years or so.” That type of thing. Then one has to ask well what if there is an Et cabal out there that says, “We can’t let these other Et guys get away with this. Let’s give them ftl now.” So the 2nd Et cabal people try and find some scientist dude and provide him with the formula for ftl spaceflight but the 1st Et cable extracts thee ftl idea away faster then the first group may realize WTF is going on? For all we know the military may represent the 1st Et cabal group. They can swoop down like the MIB and snatch the secret to ftl faster then the guy to receive it. Our 2nd Et cabal friends keep trying to give us this gift but the MIB people are quicker. But who’s to say there are more then one Et 2nd cabal group out there? Does this mean I’ve rescinded my opinion on the validity of UFO’s? No like I said, I’m playing Devil’s advocate here. Are there secret Et cabal’s out there that are trying to help and hinder this planet from joining the Galactic Et village? Maybe. So what are UFO’s? Perhaps they are inter-dimensional ghosts that have accidentally tapped into some kind of spatial anomaly. Maybe if that’s the case this dimension is off limits as if Et stayed for any length of time they would be met with some kind of devastating affect. There are a lot of questions on this topic. One I had last night listening to the show was what if all these agency’s like The FBI, CIA, etc use each other with UFO disinformation. For all we know UFO’s are little more then a game to these groups. Kind of like in that old MASH episode where the two Intelligence groups were playing cat and mouse at MASH’s expense. The other most obvious question here is, why can’t these UFO’s just be advanced military aircraft?
Ok, on that note, I didn’t get to listen to the whole show as much as I’d like to. Tonight’s Coast: Historian and speaker Neil Howe will discuss his work on generations and how they shape history, as well as the twenty year cycle of crisis facing the U.S. Guest Host: John B. Wells. Something a bit different.
The important thing is we have our rent paid for January. I’m going to dread January because odds are high, all of us apartment renters across the City are going to be in for a rude awakening this January when apartment buildings raise rent’s. The thing with these gouging property(PMF’S) management firms is they’re going to be pricing themselves out of the market. How so? Well, it won’t be long when most month-by-month apartments are going to be the same as a 25 year mortgage on a condo. Not only that but soon,apartment’s will be priced higher then condo’s. The Province want’s to strike a balance but if people can’t afford rent at an apartment, they certainly can’t afford rent on a condo.
Right now the province has been spending hundred’s of millions of dollars on subsidy since the housing crisis began a few years ago. The thing is it’s going to cost more on subsidy then it would on rent controls. Something most provinces have except here in Alberta. Just this year there have been over 7,000 apartment/condo conversions here in the City alone and developers are focusing on condo’s then apartment’s because there’s a better profit margin in it for them. More bang for the buck. But that’s short term thinking. Sure at $250,000 pop is pretty good money but that’s all condo firms make other then condo fees. The rest is tied up in bank mortgages and property taxes and condo fees. PMF’s make their money on condo fee’s. a quarter of a mil on a 1 bedroom “condo” on a 25 year mortgage translates into about $830/month, condo fees are another $300/month (and that’s dynamic not static) So a 1 year condo translates into about $1200 a month. The equity usually pays for the property taxes. Now I’m no expert on this, I’m just working this out on my own. The thing apartment owners are losing out is the initial bang for the buck. The other popular trend is that a condo owner can buy more then one condo. So lets say I’m a young entrapenuer with a lot of money and time. I buy say half a dozen condo’s and lease them out. Start up capital would be about a mil, and then all theother crap like lawyer fees etc. This is what Charles does with his ex wife and partner. He sublets to them and they pay him rent. There’s the interest rate in there and other intangibles but essentially it’s an investment for him. We need a set up like that. The idea is to have enough situations like that where it covers your own rent etc. The thing with apartments is that we’re not building any equity at all. We’re giving everything to this place. The thing is, Anne and I have another 20 years at best. I don’t want to spend all our hard earned money, throwing it all away on this place.
The other thing is Anne has well off family that is sympathetic to us. He sister the rich one Anne was musing might be able to do for us what Charles’s ex-wife etc, does for him. I’d rather spend $1,200/month on a condo then who knows how much in 5-10 years from now. Even at our last known rate $150 and if this place keeps it at that rate, we’ll be paying $1,565/month. Now I don’t know if our economy will be like it is now. There’s also no way in knowing that this place will only charge us $150/year. For all we know, they might raise our rent $500 bucks to $1300 for next year. They can raise it to what ever they want. I know of a place though that is rent free and that’s a last resort. Behind bars isn’t an option but at least it’s rent free.
Later this afternoon it’s out of here at 4pm. Hopefully I would have received al my $35 in bonus money tonight. I’m just $20 away from having the funds for my website for another year. Hopefully Rob would have given me all the bonuses from last week and it would be even nicer if I have some Cw money coming in but I‘m not going to hold my breath waiting. But hopefully if everything turns out ok, and I get my bonus money tonight, then Saturday afternoon after work I can go order the Euro’s for my website and then get that last Honor Herrington book and see if I have anything else coming in. Anne doesn’t think she’ll get those $40 reward points in before Christmas. That would have been nice as after Money Mart and Audrey’s (on the same side of the street and same block) I could have taken the #1 bus like last weekend and head over to Coles and ordered some books and have a bite to eat. That would have been nice. Anne might get them in yet today or tomorrow but it’s doubtful she won’t get them in until the New Year but she got her pay cheque today and a Superstore gift card in from home last night which helps us a great deal.
