Monday-again

I went to bed about 2:30am and listened to a bit of Coast. Spiritualism. Greg Braden. George was hosting the show. Tonight it’s R.A. Marzulli will discuss his research on the 'Luciferian Conspiracy,' as well as recent Mothman encounters in the Pt. Pleasant area. I like the Luciferian Conspiracy part. By Luciferian I think he means groups like AMORC, Golden Dawn and, sigh, yes even Freemasonry. Yeesh. I got up around 5:45am to do the cbi thing and crawled back into bed. I slept better this morning waking up shortly before noon. I fired up the computer and the coffee and watched some of the noon news.

This afternoon it’s going into work. The kids have had 2 weeks off and the platform will be in pandemonium. But it’s into the office for me and I’m going to find a dialer and call Mothers Music to see if they have the Yamaha PSR E403 keyboard and get some details. Of course, I’ll get more information on who won the OTH team bonus from last week. Greg and I will be having the radio on for the Oiler/Islander game. Anne asked me to stay home tonight but we’ve got the team bonus thing going on. I’m at work every day this week just for that althought there are only 2 Oiler games on this week. I’m also going to call up Service Canada and get them to mail me out a CPP form for my disability. So, I’ll be trying to do that this evening. Get that thing in progress. I meant to call Mike yesterday and ask him more info. He’s got the same disability as I do. Mines worse because I have two metal rods in my spine. So tonight will be a chalk full evening. Lets go Oiler’s!

Around 2am this morning as one of the last things I wanted to do before bed was to email the New Westminster public Library: “Ask a Librarian.” Most of the historical photographs of New Westminster are held at the library. Many of them are online. Most of them though according to the library website are held on catalogue and need to be viewed in person. They invited online queries accompanied by an email address and phone number. My questioned had to do with historical photographs of New Westminster. More specifically I’m looking for aerial photographs of Downtown New Westminster in the 1970’s. not Uptown but Downtown. I’ve got a panoramic shot taken what seems to be of across the Fraser river from the shores of Surrey. It’s 1972 and the wide angle panoramic view seems to distort everything. I can see the parkade where the current Law courts building is now and of course the Army & Navy Trapp building near the waterfront. These two photo’s were taken out of their online collection but their not that good. They said they can usually get an answer within 2 business days. So I’m watching for something like that in my inbox.

I’m still reading through “The New Space Opera.” There are some nice stories. I’m currently reading through Ken Macleod’s “Who’s afraid of Wolf 359.” Lot’s of dialogue.

Other then that, I’m still going through character sheets for HT. I’ll be doing that next as the last thing before I leave out of here today. I’ve also got a better idea of the overall premise of the story. Let me tell you guys something, a science fiction story isn’t always about the future or bug eyed aliens and cool gadgets. Maybe I live a sheltered existence but I mean what do we really know of what’s going on in the world around us right now? There may be high drama unfolding on our city blocks we’re unaware of at this very moment. The kind of drama that doesn't always make the news at 11. The world we live in might be back story-world building for an Et (notice I didn’t say bug eyed aliens) plot to destroy the world that draw in a few unsuspecting people. A science fiction story doesn’t always have to be in outer space either. A science fiction story doesn’t have to be a long drawn out adventure. A science fiction story can take place in a span of ten minutes to a weekend. I’ve read fiction like that, so have you. So, I’m going to post this and get down to characters. People. That’s what science fiction any fiction is all about.

Anyway, that’s all for now.

e. Jim
