That was Thursday |
|
I left myself with plenty of time out of here. I decided against going into Audrey’s for my Forgotten Realms book. Instead I’ll pick it up after work today.
I had a pretty good night at work sitting with JT. I got 3 credit cards for $6 bonus. So far $18 on the week. The hockey game started out dismal for the Oiler’s. Anne called at break and I had a chat with her. The Oiler’s looked like they were ready to lose 3-1. Will sat with me for the 2nd half. We had a discussion with Linda how the security guard is a control freak giving me a bad time because I leave out the East set of doors. Out of the other 4 guards before her, none of them gave me a bad time about the door. The security guard even complained because Will went up stairs to use the bathrooms because ours are so gross looking and he needed to take a crap. The guard was waiting for him outside wondering what he was doing there. This guard has got to go. After that discussion, the Oiler’s scored pulling within 1. Then they scored again. Jarred Stall twice! They sent the game into OT. I had to fight with Moe to get my cheque but I got it. All my bonuses were there. The Oiler’s won in a shoot out. Wonderful. That made my night. I called Anne to let her know I’m leaving. I caught the South side train and doubled back again because I wanted to read and not chat with anyone. Anne called me on the train she’s with some of the other staff waiting for her bus. I’m almost reading this story called Valley of the Gardens by Tony Daniel. It’s a good story but hard to follow. It covers about 26 pages. It’s long. Took me almost 2 weeks to read a bit every day. I’ve got about 2 pages left and I think I’ll finish the story tomorrow.
Anne says if I work all this week I can have a day’s pay for myself. This means next Thursday I’ll bring my toner to Island ink and have it refilled so I can print out a hard copy of F. In which case I think I’ll abandon the “Night train to Rigel.” and read my own work. I’ll have that read in February. I hope to get the 3rd draft March and April. Then F will be ready for my test readers. I’ll get that back May-June. July I’ll have the 4th draft done. Then a brief polish and the book goes to my test market on Labor Day weekend. Well in theory.
Of course everyone by now has heard of the actor Heath Ledger dying Tuesday afternoon. It’s big news in Hollywood. I didn’t know much of his work but I understand he’s in the upcoming Batman movie called The Dark Knight. Ledger apparently plays The Joker. I still think Nicholson played the best Joker other then Romero of course. I’m looking forward to the Dark Knight.
Coast looks good tonight. Topic: Jim Morrison. Morrison died July 3rd 1971. I recall listening to the radio hearing about the news. My source of music at the time was the FM radio we had from the in house intercom. Many times I’d be left alone in the house listening to Led Zeppelin, Ten Years After, Jethro Tull, The Carpenter’s, Three Dog night and many others. I was 19 years old at the time. We were still living in our house on Regan Avenue. Hearing about Jim Morrison’s death never really struck me as much as say hearing about Elvis 6 years later did.
Today Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach gave his plan for reducing Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which means to send the CO2 underground where the rock strata will capture it. This is a good idea. Of course it shows Mike Hedema of our local Greenpeace scum bags their reaction. They want to halt all Tar sands oil activity. Never mind sending Alberta into economic recession. He’s okay. Greenpeace is taking care of him. Don’t make a donation to Greenpeace here in Alberta. You Won’t get a tax receipt. In 1999 the Feds revoked Greenpeace’s tax status as a charity saying they serve no public good. They’re right. Ed Stelmach’s plan is a good one. It’s good for Alberta. It’s called Carbon capture and storage (CCS) It’s actually a pretty good idea. There are challenges in it of course but consider the emissions into the atmosphere the challenges would be minimal.
I got my conformation from Markus. He received my website money for another year. I like this. At least that’s one bill paid. One more to go.
Anyway, that’s all for now.
