Double Thursday |
|
I got up about 6:30am to do the cbi thing and back to bed. I slept half decent but about 9am my neck began to ache. It’s been tight lately and I’m concerned about getting a stroke. I got up just before noon with a headache so I fixed some coffee opening a new container and watched a bit of the news. I’m beginning to feel a bit better now. Anne’s still sleeping and I‘m going into work tonight.
Speaking of, which there’s no hockey game to listen to on the job tonight. The good news is I can fight for my pay cheque again. I’d love a job where I can get my pay in my bank account like my wife had hers at Consumer. No more asking for my pay cheque every Thursday. This is why I’m seriously going to look at a change of employment. The one call center I’m looking at pays $15 an hour. They’ve been around for a long time. It’s survey based. I know where their office is located downtown over there by Mothers Music not far away. When the weather warms up next week, I’m considering going in to check it out. Get out of Xl. If I can get hired on at the new call center and work part time, say afternoons, I can still keep Xl until September 15. This would be my 8th anniversary there. I’d lose my 6% vacation pay but at $15 hour, would kind of make up for it. It’s a little off the lrt line there. I’m not to crazy about that. Ideally I’d like a call canter job that is unionized. This means not only better access to a medical plan but also part of the Canadian Union of Public Employee’s. Commonly referred to as CUPE. And I’d qualify for a pension. I'd need to get 10 years in and that 10 year window is fading fast. Charles talked about me getting onto the Provincial Museum as a security guard but I don’t think my health is up to doing anything that ambitious. Besides, it’s rotating shifts and your often in the public eye. The money is nice. This call center might be connected with CUPE since it is dealing with the Government. It’s worth looking into.
On the lighter side of today: Last night on Coast was a partial rebroadcast. So, this week we’ve had a power outage affecting Monday nights show and a rebroadcast affecting last nights show. Other stuff: So much for the asteroid that was supposed to hit Mars earlier this week. According to the Coast “Crypto news”, the asteroid missed Mars. Barely. Tonight’s show looks interesting: Prof Robert M. Schoch will discuss his latest work studying the controversial realms of psychical and paranormal research. Sounds like a decent show.
Still on the lighter side: Are we all having fun with the continuing saga of Britney Spears lately? Early this morning in the wee hours she was taken away by ambulance because of some medical issue. We’ve all seen the file footage by now. Looks like a Presidential motorcade and a police escort leaving her home. A police escort no less! Holy shit if that was any of us, would we get a Police escort to the hospital? I don’t know what the details of this thing is yet but it is amusing to see the Britney Spears drama unfold each night. The Britney PR machine is sure getting it’s mileage worth. The best is the British accent thing. Too funny. Can you say stock options rising folks? I feel sorry for her in a way to and I feel this continuing drama is all leading up to something big. According to a CNN article the article said it‘s a "mental evaluation hold." WTF? Does she need a Police escort for that?
The good news is for us ordinary folk in Edmonton is it’s “warming up” out there. That is if you can call -24C is a warming trend. It’s really not that bad if your out of the wind.
I did a bit of piano practicing last night and that felt good. I’m going to work on the Star Wars theme latter on tonight when I come in from work.
If all goes well, I’ll get the $20 bonus on my cheque from last weeks credit card bonuses. Last night I’ve been hearing stuff like the credit card bonuses are only if your at line hour. So, a month into this thing and Rob has changed his mind: Again. That's nothing new I hope I heard wrong about the credit card bonus. Meanwhile our $2 week social fund is still emptying our wallets every week. That's $104/year out of my pay cheque gone to what? A trip to Vegas for a few people? One of the East Indian Kids that just got onto Xl qualifies for the trip. They came into this office I think as of September and they qualify? The thing I don't like about my place of employment is there are way too many double standards. Some people can work 11 hour days, some can't. I don't care about going to Vegas or anything like that but year to date from Jan 1st '07 to Dec 31st '07 I've banked something like $9,000 in credit cards alone. 90% of my gross pay. Something like 220 credit cards. I don't know what weird formula qualifies for the trip to Vegas but I have a good idea where my social club $2/week is going to.
So if everything works out well tonight on my cheque I get $20 bucks for my allowance. $20 bucks? That’s a sniffer tube for some of these Hollywood entertainer types. Still, I can get a book out of it. I’ve got one last book there holding for me at Audrey’s. Book 2 of The seeds of Time Trilogy. But for sure on Saturday, I’m taking those reward points to City Center Mall.
I had to go back and re edit this thing. That's why there are so many "Views" showing up there.
Anyway, that’s all for now.
