We're on the front page

A bit of a trial experiment today. I’m going to place my blog on the front page of my website. I’ll give it the last 3 posts. This is from yesterday:

I had another look at the reward points before I left out of here and they are in X2 $20 certificates. This has potential.

I had a brief wait for my connecting bus to Clairview station this morning at 9am. It was cold but not unbearable. I got to Tim’s and my breakfast sandwich, then a pleasant walk over to the office. I found Severs dialer and scooped it up and enjoyed my breakfast. People started filing in about 9:55am. Doesn’t look like were going to win this round of OTH because JT had all of his team show up for double points Saturday. We missed Danny and James. Otherwise we would have tied for $25 each. JT has Bud and all the East Indian kids who work every day. I’m not bitter over James and Danny not being here for Saturday. We won it twice and tied once. I think this is the last week of the contest and I won‘t say I‘m sorry to see it go. We might do one more run by the end of the month as we get closer to the end of February.

Anyway I had a slow morning. I ended up with $365 and 2 credit cards and I read a couple of pages out of “The New Space Opera.” Of course we’ve been beating this CFK thing to death now. JT and I had an interesting chat between calls about his recent adventures in the stock market. He said you don’t need a lot of money to do this. He said he has 4 stocks in his portfolio and so far he’s made $75. He said I can start with as little as $100. He said all I need is I think he said is what’s called an Investors account at the RBC (my bank anyway) and when he can he’s going to look into this for me. He’s just starting out but it’s his brother that’s helping him. JT, his brother, Charles and of course RJS are the people outside my lodge I meet face-to-face I can actually trust. Not to mention of course my few online friends like Markus, J, and Keith. All of my friends have integrity. I trust the above names more then anyone else (other then my lovely wife of course.) So this could be another path for me. I have no delusions I’m going to strike it rich or anything. This is just penny stocks. Not big time. We played the 1 minute off work for every credit card go home early goal. I was determined to go to the City Center Mall after work . We got 35 minutes off in credit cards. At 1:30pm Moe called totals and I was glad to get out of there about 1:30pm.

I had a ten minute wait for the #1 bus and I was getting cold waiting for that sucker. I’m glad it came by when it did. I was on my way to City Center mall. At last. I got there and right over to Coles and did some shopping. I found the James P. Hogan novel, “The legend that was earth.” There were a few anthologies I could have picked up as well. I found an older novel I thought was a newer one by Greg Bear: “Darwin’s radio.” That looked good. Anne called from Home and we had a talk while I was shopping. Rollback in paperback. I’ll have to get this at Audrey’s (American pricing in affect) I handed in my coupons and I got $16 and some change back. There’s my festive board money and enough to get a treat at Taco Bell. I got my stuff organized and Anne called again. She’s going to the discount food truck over there by 111th st. I mentioned how I got $16 and enough for the balance of my Lodge dues. I told her I might get a food court treat after all and I went down to Taco Bell and ordered the fries supreme and the bean-meet burrito and a medium diet Pepsi. I found a table and enjoyed my meal. This was about 2:30pm. Pleased with myself I headed upstairs and out the mall down Rice Howard Way and down into Central Station and waited for my Clairview train ride home, tired but with a full belly. My day was turning out ok. I took the connecting bus back to the set of lights out here. Some jerk went and cut me off as I was trying to cross. The bastard. I got in and fired up the computer to go to Fantastic Fiction on my site and checked my books. The Greg Bear book is an older book and there is a sequel to this (comes as no surprise.) I closed off the computer and went to bed. Sleep came hard but I managed a couple of hours. Anne had come home some time ago and closed the door so the cats wouldn’t bother me. I woke up at 6pm.

I did my stuff and Anne made me a terrific pasta thingy. (Supper was late about 8pm) She made me this frozen entrée dish but she baked it up for me. I liked it. I watched a bit of the Flames/Dallas game and back on the computer. I don’t want a lunch tonight. I already ate too much today as it is.

So all-in-all Saturday was a pretty good day. Anne bought some beer and we’ll get in by 3am and listen to Coast and I'll pass out hopefull for 8 hours. Today I want to get some writing done. I don’t think I’ll get up to 8,000 words but I could get 5,000. The only thing about this front page is that I don;t get a blog title and or the last 10 stories added under the "what's new?" block. There are some bugs in this theme but so far it's fullfilling my expectations. I've got to also do something about the menus above as they don't work like they did in my old theme and I have room for 2 more.

Sorry for any typos. They will get straitened around as I get comfortable with this layout.

Anyway, that’s all for now.

e. Jim
