Science fiction and Trade deadlines |

I’ve got 2 of Cory Doctorow’s SF books here and I’m unable to pin him down as to his overall SF genre. There are so many sub genre’s in science fiction. I think more so then in any other fiction genre: we have science fiction, speculative science fiction, soft speculative science fiction, Hard science fiction, Cyber punk science fiction, Steam Punk science fiction, Space Opera science fiction, Young Adult science fiction, Historical science fiction, Military science fiction as well as New Wave (science fiction), Apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic science fiction, Christian science fiction, Science fiction Western, Superhero science fiction, and I’m sure I left out more then a few. There’s about 15 different sub categories. You can also toss in there humor SF as well. The stuff underlined is SF I won’t read, which brings us back to Cory Doctorow. Some say he’s YA. Other’s are not so sure. Also, Science fiction is really easy to cross over into other genre’s such as Romance, Fantasy, mystery and even horror. Science fiction is probably one of the most diversified forms of fiction of any genre. That’s why I like to read so much of it. But I still can’t pin down Cory Doctorow. I’ve never read a YA book before (as far as I know that is)
I had a pretty good night on the job. I left out of here after shutting everything down and locking up. My train was a bit on the late side not leaving until about 4:15pm. I began to read more from “The New Space Opera.” I think about 2 thirds of the way through this Robert Silverburg story. So, we’re doing CBF. Right off I got a $100 sale and then a $50 sale and slowed down but ended up with $345. That was 2nd highest total. After the break Anne called from her now activated cell and after break we ended up doing AES. I got a $100 sale from a Reverend no less. Also a $100 credit card sale and a couple of $50’s for $215 in credit card sales for the night. Not to shabby. Anne made me a meat loaf supper mash potatoes and baby peas. I watched a great episode of Raw on a scale of 1-10, I give Raw a 9. It was that good. And in about half an hour we’re going to watch Annie Oakley and listen to a bit of Coast to round out a perfect night. We’re even getting a lot closer to getting our wide screen TV in March. That’s going to be great.
So if we do get that TV it’s going to be just before Wrestlemanina in HD and perfect timing for the playoffs. All we need now is a PS3 and our rental subsidy and things will be great.
Anyway, that’s all for now
