My life and some sci-fi |
|
I got into work feeling a bit better. I had a nice walk into work and Rob was hanging around. I asked when the T4’s would come in and he said they’d have to be out by the end of this month. He made some snide comment about me working part time but I replied how, “Well at least I got money back.” Rob’s ok, he just wants me to put a few more hours in. I was doing alright though with AES and got 3 $50 sales and ended up having a good first half. They are really picky about pause times. Moe said he’s not worried about me as I’m way under 1% most of the time. I ended up with $455 on the night and just before Totals, Audrey’s called saying “Seedlings” (J’s book of short stories) is in. I’m going to get more POD books if they come in this fast and for $15 a copy, they are cheaper then hard covers. I felt good with that and I felt better more or less all night. I want to get that other POD book of short stories by Static Movement.
After work I ended up getting the train to the HSC and I finished reading the Robert Silverburg story. Not bad. I thought the ending was soft. I’m now about to read Gregory Benford’s “The Worm Turns.” So far so good. I got to admit, the stories are picking up in the 2nd half.
On Coast tonight: Noah’s Ark. First Hour: Christian Wilde reports on the health benefits of turmeric. Then, wildlife biologist Bob Reed comments on the recent incident in which a python ate a dog. Very strange.
As for my own writing, I did just over 1,000 words on H Wednesday afternoon. I hope to get some more done as well before I head out to work. If I can get 1,000 words minimum each day, I’d be happy.
The Price of Oil yesterday held about $101.26/barrel but closed off at just under $100. I don’t see Oil go up significantly beyond $100 but anything is possible.
I’m still reading “The New Space Opera” and I’m enjoying the book. I’d buy the next one. However, I’m getting away from anthology’s after I read this one. After this it’s “Night Train to Rigel,” then Cory Doctorow’s “Down and out in the magic Kingdom.”
On tap for today, I hope to get 1,000+ words completed on H. Then it’s the first car on the train so I can head over to Audrey’s and get my book “Seedlings on the Solar Winds.” by J Allan Erwine. It’s not a very big book and after reading this huge book, I’m not ready for a large read just yet. Some people say it’s Cyberpunk. After I get the book, it’s into work and settle down for my coffee and I’ll be watching The Edmonton/LA game and looking to get my pay cheque. All 16 hours of it this time.
Anyway, that’s all for now
