Another Saturday

I don’t know how I missed this but yesterday was a leap year. I knew something was up when I noticed February had 29 days in it. I always thought February had 28 days. Our local news media had brought this to my attention.

Yesterday was a bit of a hectic day. I got up about 1pm. Always a bad sign right there. I did my thing and Anne was out shopping. She bought me a KFC big crunch chicken sandwich. It’s the only thing I like on their menu. So she gave me enough money for my bus pass and $5 extra since she paid the rent and went off to her job. She’s a bit upset that only a month on the job and they already have a shortage of work for her next week. That’s the trouble with these research places. Anyway, I left out of here at my usual time and the driver picked me up smiling apologetically “No Blonde moment tonight.”

At least he made up to owning to a mistake. I went to pay for my bus pass, $66 and some change. Then into work. It was really nice out there. Mild conditions. Overcast. Kind of lonely, almost like the calm before a storm. I got me a bag of “Cheese pleasers” for later and we settled into work. What a lousy night. I think I got 7 sales and most everyone else were doing about the same. Other people’s pause times were killing me stretching the bandwidth disabling the customer on the other end from hearing me. I was really pissed off. I wanted to go home in the 2nd half but Moe said just tough it out. It’s a beat up list. In the 2nd half we were going to do CBF. That was even worse. I got 2 sales and very few calls. I was hurtin folks. When Moe called totals at the end of the shift, if the evening held any consolation for me, most of us tap shooters were doing about the same. I just wanted to get out of there and squeeze by the front 20 collecting and blocking my way. “Beep, beep, scuze me,” Squeeze by. No Linda I wasn’t pushing you,” Yeesh. I was glad to get out of there into the mild air and on my way over to Audrey’s books. I got my copy of “Seedlings of the solar winds.” I’m a little disappointed in the size of the book. Total price including GST was $13.60. Less the $5 deposit. I paid $8.60 last night. Total $13.99. Now ordinarily I wouldn’t buy a POD book but because our dollar is at par with the US dollar and the price was right for a Trade book, I figured why not. J offers 16 stories and if bought separately at $2 each would be $32. So it’s a good deal. The stories are short and the whole book has 140 pages in it. Because it’s a short book, I’ll include it in my next list of 3 books.

I decided I’d go to Tim’s and get myself a free coffee and a donut and I rode the train to HSC. Waiting for the train to pull out is when Anne called as I’d be losing her in the tunnel. That was my first mistake but the train crowded coming home. I drank my coffee on the way to HSC and enjoyed it feeling pretty good at this point. At least this way coming back I’d be able to get a seat by myself. I didn’t win on the Roll Up. I was feeling a bit better whatever this is wise. If it’s not gone by Monday, I’m calling Doctor Lee for an appointment for Thursday. He’ll be able to tell me right away. I’m off Thursday night for my Lodge evening. When I got to Clairview station the #183 was done for the night. I decided instead of waiting for the #11, which would be half an hour away, I’d walk home. It was icy and slippery in the dark melting ice and snow on the way home until I got to the main sidewalk heading South towards our place. I got in at 10:15pm and I had my cheesies and enjoyed some Smackdown. I watched the news. Anne made me a TV like dinner entrée. It wasn’t bad. I watched the rest of the news and ECW and I was in bed by 1am listening to George and open lines. It was actually a pretty good show. “Leap year birthday hot line.” Of course.

For today, it’s into work, get my breakfast sandwich have a coffee settle into the job and get that out of the way. ASAP. COH: $26.13. So this means I’ll have more then enough for the festive board at the lodge. After work, it’s straight home, have myself a nap and Anne should be home at about 7pm. She’s working from 1-6pm today and tomorrow. I might even put in a Sunday shift as well but I don’t know when my Oiler game is on. After my afternoon nap, Anne will be home. We’ll get a bite to eat. I want to do some more writing. I might work tomorrow if my Oiler game is on at 7pm and take Monday off. Work Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon and maybe Thursday morning and shoot out there to the West end for my Thursday Doctor appointment. If the Oiler game is on at 7pm, I’ll work Sunday. If it’s on at 5pm or something like that I won’t. I was thinking about popping into the City Center mall food court this afternoon for a Taco Bell treat and as long as I have $10 for the Festive board, I’m ok. I’ll be having that Tim’s breakfast sandwich this morning and waffles before that. So I think I’ll just leave the food court thing and go home for my nap.

Also, to compliment J’s book and awesome cover, another (yes) cat photo. That’s pledges my 18 year old. He looks so proud way up there over looking his domain.

Anyway, that’s all for now

e. Jim
