Monday work week begins

I had a good weekend, despite my wife’s occasional blow ups. I watched the Edmonton/Columbus game. Up and down all night. The game went into OT but we won in the shootout and got 2 points out of the deal. Good stuff.

We had a processed kind of a chicken thing going on and rice for supper. Something easy. When we have brunch so late I don’t like a heavy supper.

Today is the Provincial election. I’m still undecided. Part of me wants to keep the status quo but another part of me wants a change. If we got the Liberals in power or NDP for that matter, they might compromise our economy. Yet we need rent controls here in Alberta if only for temporary rent controls. I’m also willing to give the Liberals a chance yet they want hard targets on Greenhouse gas emissions and I don’t like that. With Ed he wants to utilize carbon capture technology. Most likely I’ll vote for Ed. I don’t trust the Liberals and the NDP even less. I’m also considering The Wild Rose party which is like the NDP on the other side of the PC party. They are a bit to Right wing for me. A vote for them split’s the PC party. Alberta has been PC for the last 37 years.

After I vote, I’ll head into work and get shit from Rob for missing Saturday. Also, there’s wrestling on tonight as well. That’s always a good time. All in all I had a decent weekend. I didn’t know I’d be taking Saturday off though until Saturday morning. I’ll make up some lame excuse. So I’ll go to the school and vote and then by then Anne should be up. I’ll have my lunch and head into work.

I’m hoping I can finish “The New Space Opera” by the end of this week or by the weekend at least. It's got some good things in it.

The thing with "H" is I’m trying to capture a Gothic/Romance atmosphere yet keeping the overall theme Science Fiction. I’m not sure how to do this and this is why I’m getting bogged down. Essentially this story is supposed to be a “Gothic/Romance” Sci-fi inspired by the work of the Dark Shadows soap opera. So think of Dark Shadows (without the Vampire/horror elements.) By Gothic I’m referring to the overall mood and gloomy atmospheric melodrama. I might even have to rewrite this thing because I want a sympathetic heroine as my protagonist. The love interest should be a man as the supporting character. And I think this is the way to go. So, Gothic I mean atmosphere and melodrama and Romance not necessarily love. I really have to rethink this story and I’ve already got some good ideas. It might even be a SF/paranormal/horror type thing. There’s an interesting twist near the end of the story that wraps everything up. That much I’ve got figured out. I’ve got some other good things in there as well.

My shoulder and chest are feeling better and it doesn’t hurt when I cough as much. I’m not out of the woods by a long shot. I’m thinking that if it was just a virus that I might be (crosses fingers) on the mend.

Anyway, that’s all for now

e. Jim
