Wednesday business

I wanted to get some last minute writing done on H early this morning but Anne and I went to bed at 3am. But during this time I received some severe chest pains. Like burning in my left breast area. It was horrible and I have some residual discomfort there now. I don’t think it was a heart attack or a stroke because none of the signs of a heart attack developed. I felt no numbness in my hands, feet etc. I didn’t feel tiered or nausea. After awhile things just eased off and I felt better. No pain or nothing. Right now I’ve got a bit of chest pain but it’s nothing I can’t live with. If I get another episode like the one at 3:30am this morning then, I’ll see my Doctor. This is driving me nuts now. What makes this strange is I’m not in any high risk area. I’m not a smoker. I don’t drink very much, perhaps one beer a month. I have a bit more weight on me then I’d like to have but I’m not obese or anything like that. Right now, I feel pretty good. This tells me I’ve got some kind of viral infection going on. Kind of scares me because I’ve never had anything like this before.

Well it’s Wednesday and not much going on for today. Basically the weather is cold but not that bad. It’s not like -12C or anything. There is still a lot of snow on the ground from Monday. The best part about this weekend is Sunday it’s daylight savings time. But we could have this snow on the ground until about the middle of this month and even towards the end of it.

I’m still waffling about going into lodge this week. I think I’d like to go because I’ve got enough festive board money on hand. So I’ll tell Moe tonight I’m off Thursday night. I need to get out of here and go some place other then work. All I do is go to work and go home. I need to do something else and so, I’ll go to Lodge on Thursday night. Sounds like a plan.

Next up after I blog this it’s research time. This morning I was doing a bit of research on Roman forts in Britain in the 2nd Century. Your probably wondering what has this to do with Science Fiction? It factors into the story. No this is not historical Science Fiction.

So tonight, you guessed it: It’s into work at 4pm after Bonanza. I lock the place down and I’m catching that 4:05pm bus to Clairview station. The Train leaves out of there at 4:15pm. I’m downtown at Corona station about 4:30pm. I get my Tim’s coffee and over to the office. Get my dialer and get a recap and make sure I have a headset. Get out my reading glasses out of my backpack, book and share a laugh with JT etc and let the madness begin. I don’t do any actual dialing myself. The computer does all that for me. The hardest thing about the job is pronouncing the customers name. Where Anne works, she’s got to do the dialing from numbers on the computer. I can go by with a minute or two before I get a call. For a four hour shift it’s not to bad.

Yesterday we got our T4’s in. The Feds took $385 off me for income tax deducted last year. It’s a strong indicator on how much I’ll get back in my tax return. As soon as the free tax place opens Canada Place we’re down there to file. With any luck I should get back about $250 by the end of April early May. I was thinking that Alberta should follow a GST type thing where every 4 months the Government would give back a rebate cheque. Of course lots of people wouldn’t qualify for a rebate cheque because they make too much money. I usually get $110 back every 4 months from the Feds. We got a gst rebate cheque in January and we’ll get another one in April. So even though I pay gst on almost everything like every Canadian living in this country, I also get money back. It was mine anyway but I don’t even think about the gst when I buy something. But with gst and my income tax return I usually get back about $700/year. It’s not all in one lump sum of course. I wish we had that option. Also this year Anne and I are filing for the transit pass rebate. This is a recent Federal Tory option. Their answer to help the environment. Encourage more people to take public transit then their cars. Rush hour traffic into the City center is loaded with single passenger vehicles. Many of these people have one hand on the wheel cell phone in ear. Losers. But the tax rebate for transit passes makes sense. We pay $66.50/month in transit passes here and that’s $798/year. I don’t know how much we’ll get back but even if it’s enough to get a couple of buss passes it all helps.

Anyway, that’s all for now

e. Jim
