Friday and snow flurries

we were in bed by 3am. I think I passed out about 3:30am and I woke up at 8:30am. Five hours later. I hadn’t slept that late in the morning without doing my cbi thing in a long time. I went back to bed but it was hard to sleep after that. Anne got up to go to B Bell bakery to get her cake about 9:30am. I didn’t sleep very well after that so I got up and watched the news.

On Keith Grahams site He listed his 10 most desired albums if he got stranded on a desert island and a case got washed up onshore with a record player and albums. He listed the 10 desired albums he hoped would be inside the case along with the record player. I’m going to update that a little and say what if an Ipod got washed up ashore with unlimited battery use. What songs or collections would I hope the Ipod would contain. I’ve got an “Essential music” block up on my site but if boxed sets count as albums then here’s my list of 10:

1.) The Clash “On Broadway.” Each one of these songs is timeless. Music you could listen to over and over again. That’s the mark of a great song. Broadway has 18 songs over 3 Cd’s in the package. I love all of the songs in this set.

2.)The Buzzcocks “Product.” A punk rock band almost as good as The Clash and from the same era. Again 18 songs 3 Cd’s.

2.) Kansas: Boxed set. 2 disks covering 16 songs.

3.) The Stranglers “Epic years.” This is a really generous set containing 4 Cd’s and 83 tracks.

4.) Alan Parsons Project “The Essential Alan Parsons Project” 2 CD set of 34 tracks.

5.) Jethro Tull 25th anniversary boxed set: 4 Cd’s of 55 tracks. All the classics. Even my fav JT album “Under Wraps” is well represented.

6.) The Rolling Stones: “Singles collection” 3 Cd set.

7.) Midnight Oil: 10-1 (My favorite Oil record of all time)

8.) Midnight Oil: Earth and Sun and Moon (2nd fav Oil album)

9.) Rik Emmett: Absolutely 9This offering is quite a departure from Rik's days in Triumph. "When a heart breaks" and "Middle ground" are some of his best. Excellent precussion sequences.

10.) Talking Heads Brick. 16 Cd’s covering all 8 of the bands studio recordings. I didn’t even know this set existed until I began this list. They want $150 for it. Yikes. Of course like Keith, I’ve got a lot of artists I like to listen to: The Kinks, ELO, Alice Cooper, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Who, Tom Petty, David Bowie, The Ramones, Tears for fears, Sweet, Grand Funk Railroad, Uriah Heap and many more.

So tonight I’m going in as per my usual time. I’m telling Moe not to expect me on Saturday because I’ll be taking my wife out for dinner Saturday early afternoon. Rob can give me shit all he wants to Monday. I’d like to come in for Sunday but there’s a back-to-back Oiler game on this weekend. I’m going to miss most of the Saturday night game as it is. Sure the Oiler’s are going to lose but so what? They’ll at least make the next 11 games interesting even if they don’t make the playoffs.

After work, it’s down to Audrey’s and see if they have a special order for me. I wish they’d put their science fiction/fantasy section upstairs. At least with Chapters they have an escalator. I might even go there instead tonight. I haven’t been out there since last fall. But I think this should be about it for Friday.

Anyways friends, blogers and readers, that’s all for now.

e. Jim
