Work Sci-fi and stuff

Anne returned from B-bell and bought me an Edmonton Oiler T-Shirt from A&N. Thanks honey. A very nice fresh batch of Springtime snow had piled up on my way out to my bus stop. That and the fog out there made it for a kind of nice ride into work. At -1C it wasn’t cold out there at all. I got a diet Coke at the Redi mart at Clairview station and boarded my train and read all the way into Corona station. I walked into work feeling pretty good. No cheese pleasers at the Drugstore. I had a good start to the night as well with a credit card and I think by break I was at $300 something for BP. Anne called on my break. The calls came in slow in the 2nd half and I got to read a lot of NTR in between calls doing CCSD. I got a $300 reload sale. The customer did it on his credit card twice but wouldn’t do it for me. Yeah that made me feel good. Not. I had about $495 and I got a $100 credit card sale which was really good on the next call. That made me feel better. I ended up with top total and 2 credit card sales to give me a $20 bonus next week. I also won the line hour bonus for the extra $2/hr. So that will mean next week my usual cheque and $27/ extra.

After work I left feeling happy knowing I’ve got a weekend off. The snow was coming down really nice outside. I worked my way across the parking lot and over to Audrey’s. I ordered. Part 1 of Vernor Vinge’s “Queng Ho” series “A Deepness in the Sky.” This is the first book of the 2 part series. I have a “Fire upon the Deep.” I didn’t realize when I bought it the book was book 2 of a 2 part series. Now I ordered the 1st part. I also ordered “Logos Run.” Again another part 2 of a series. Yeesh. I went downstairs to look around and I thought about buying a Jack Vance book but I mentioned to Trevor how the Mary Rosenblum book “Horizons” is most likely sold out but he thought it was still there and produced a copy from the shelves. I ordered 2 books and brought a 3rd one to buy and then I figured lets check for Alastair Reynolds “House of Suns” but that’s still in hard cover so I ordered “Pushing Ice” instead. Two Australian authors and one British. The staff at Audrey’s had the lights almost out ready to close as I asked for a bag and to pay for the book at the till. They were in a hurry to leave so she gave me the bag to fill and my receipt as well. That kind of put me off a bit but remember Jim, these people have been working here all day.

It was really nice outside as the snow gently fell on the City. I went over to Tim‘s to get a coffee and their last Boston Cream donut and enjoyed my coffee and donut treat. I didn’t win at Roll Up of course. Last year they were giving away Plasma TV’s. I sat there for awhile in Tim’s and enjoyed my coffee and relaxed for a few minutes before heading downstairs to catch my train. While waiting I cracked open my boo NTR and read a few pages and my train came along. Hey, extra cars again. Oh yeah, Oil Kings “fan appreciation night.” A big turnout it seemed. I read on the way home and there was my #183 waiting. I read on there as well and a bit as the bus was approaching the set of lights. It was really pretty out there. Kind of Christmasy and all.

I got in fired up the computer did some admin stuff and Anne came in shortly before the news. She cooked me a nice baked pasta we watched the news and I was considering wrestling but I had watched a bit earlier. There was that 3 hour Raw show on Monday. I’m all wrestled out. I‘ve got a can of beer chilling for me and I‘ll have that about 2pm. Maybe I‘ll have it instead for tomorrow night. I‘m pretty wiped out.

Today I‘m sleeping in and up at noon. And I‘m writing this weekend. At about 3:30pm Anne and I our heading out in the snow to The Ramada Inn for our happy birthday Anne dinner. With any luck at all I‘ll be in home just in time to hear the National anthem’s before they drop the puck.

Also I want to learn Greensleeves on the piano this weekend. It would sound better on guitar mode. I have the notes for one hand and the left hand notes as well on another YouTube video. All this and I still have $17.62 cents Cash on hand but I think I’ll leave the beer for this evening after the hockey game.

The other thing I began to realize was that because next week is a short week and all, I won't be able to attend lodge to do the FC WT. That is if I want my pay cheque for the weekend. This kind of pisses me off because I memorized all my lines and crap. Bad time of year to hold an emergent meeting. The other thing is, I could go in for Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning and do the afternoon shift. Anne could always come in and pick up my cheque at 3pm. I have $17 on me now and I won't spend much of that, maybe $7 if that. Then right after Lodge night it's Good Firday. I don't know how Rob's going to do that this year. I could take my insulin Thursday morning as usual and Anne could leave me a plate at home and I can take my late afternoon insulin before Neil picks me up for the lodge. That's an idea.

Anyway, fellow Blogers and readers, that’s all for now.

e. Jim
