geek with a laptop.

Yesterday was fine.

I think I got up around 6:30am yesterday to do the cbi thing. I got enough sleep and I needed to read from NTR. I’m on Chapter 16 and well into the thick of it but I was getting tired and I went back to bed for another 5 hours.

I woke up just shortly after Noon to watch the Noon News hour and maybe catch the markets and a bit on the OTH game. I fired up the computer and watched the news unfold but I dozed off here and there. I missed the markets and probably the bit about the OTH game as well.

After the news I got to work on H and read 5 scenes and made minor corrections. Some places I even forgot quotation marks, that sort of thing. The dialogue is choppy in spots and I need to fix that up. As long as I have the initial ideas down, I can correct this all later. That's why it's caled the rough draft.

After lunch it’s watch a bit of Bonanza and get maybe a half hour reading in. After that about 4pm I shut the place down and locked everything up, it‘s out to catch my bus for the job thing onto the train and hopefully read some more on NTR. It’s a pretty good Science Fiction mystery. I’ll be ordering the sequel tonight, hopefully. Tonight it’s Phoenix in town and Greg and I will be watching for the scores on this game. It also means extra cars on the train tonight as well for the ride home. Always a plus. The only time I take the train to the HSC (the other way) is if I’m early enough and there’s no event going on to provide extra cars for us late night commuters home. Hopefully I can find a spot for myself and read either way. Anne usually calls me from either work or at the payphone using her calling card on the concourse platform waiting for the train home. When I get home I'll try and catch some of the Oiler game and fire up the computer, do some more work on H. No doubt this will be posted after the News tonight.

I’m doing something a bit different now at work. I’m no longer keeping everything on a recap slip of paper, rather I'm keeping everything on "notepad" on my monitor. But lately Don Smith has been sitting beside Subvere's dialer so I had to transfer everything over still having to keep a recap anyway. I wanted to move away from the new guy, Dave. Instead of the paper recap everything goes on notepad right on the screen. No paper trail at all.

Even Dave Kerilo showed up tonight. I haven't seen him in months. When I left the office the Oiler’s were winning 4-2 late in the 2nd. Good stuff. I ended up reading from NTR there earlier heading into work and on the way home. I got the last car on the train and a seat by myself. Anne called on the way in. I got home with Sparky and Sporty waiting there for me and I was able to watch the last few minutes of the Oiler/Phoenix game. Oiler’s 7 Phoenix 4. It was 8-4 when it was all over. Anne came in and began supper. Tonight, I’m going to read more on H so I can hopefully do some writing on the weekend.

Our computers went offline there earlier about 7:25pm and I was able to utilize the time to call Audrey’s and place an order. I wanted to order the sequel to NTR but it’s still in Hard cover. So I ordered another book by Timothy Zahn, “The Green and the Grey.” I’ve got his “Icarus Hunt but after NTR I'm reading J's "Seeedlings on the Solar Winds." I can read that in about a week.

I had a great night and all even though it was slow at work I was able to read some. I had a good time. Leaving I had a chat with Chris (The manager room the Vancouver office) and Greg in the verifier’s room. It seems my bank is really good. The stats don’t show my bank in dollars that came in but they do show percentages and that’s just as good.

I got home tonight to do some Bloging and on Robert J Sawyers Blog learned of the passing away of Arthur C Clarke. I made a comment on RJS’s blog about it. Clarke was the last surviving member of what was sometimes known as the "Big Three" of Science Fiction, which included Robert A. Heinlein and Isaac Asimov. Clarke lived a solid 90 years. I recall seeing the movie “2001: A Space Odyssey.” back in 1969 as it was released. Clifford D Simak and Robert A. Heinlein died with a few weeks of each other of the same year and L. Ron Hubbard died in 1986. Asimov died in 1992. All the great old guard Science Fiction writers are dying off. Hearing stuff like this, famous Science Fiction authors dead and all inspires me to write. I confess not reading much of Clarke’s work, there’s only so much to read and all. I did read a lot of Simak and some of Heinlein over the years.

Anyway Blogers, that’s all for now.
