Sunday, my day off. Sort of |
|
This shot is of our balcony facing East. Ours is the one with the white crisscross thatching at second from the end on the 2nd floor. Other then one fire door, the hallway in the center of this building runs all the way from one end to the other. North/South. The caretakers are in the main floor in the lower left facing the other way. For the most part it’s a quiet building except when the people upstairs have the runt running around. This building was built about 1970:
Not many commuters on the platform this Saturday morning. I wasn’t in the mood to read on the way in still feeling a little tired and groggy. I got my Tim’s coffee and Roll up and breakfst sandwich and into the office and had a chat with Fran about “Earth Day.” Most people of my generation are savvy and onto about this AGW scam. I'm not altogether against invironmentalism, things like landfill issues, over fishing and deforestization are concerns of mine. But AGW, IPCC crap? Forget it.
.
Hey, JT showed up. Good stuff. He had what I had, with that bout of pneumonia earlier this month. Anyway, I had a brief chat with him. I had another stellar shift pulling in $790. Including a couple of credit card sales and even a $100 credit card sale. The thing is even though I might have had a few hours sleep overnight my energy level was holding out just fine.
I should have retrieved my camera to take the shot of where I think Hobbits might have been but Geek log doesn’t let me hold more then 2 photo’s at a time in one post done cleanly. I’m going to see if this will work. For the ones above. Anyway I ended up heading over to Audrey’s and I got my 2 books. I took a look around and hey, Chris Roberson’s latest is in. Well, that and the Timothy Zhan book will go towards my 2 books for April.
I met a couple of the East Indian kids that I work with waiting for the Clairview train in Corona and I joined them. They were only going as far as Stadium anyway. I read some more on the train the rest of the way. At Clairview was the #183 bus so I caught that and read until it pulled out of the terminal.
It wasn’t that much warmer out there from this morning. Froth still on the breath. When the bus let me off just out here, there was Anne across the street all warmed up ready to catch her bus going the other way. I gave her, the cell phone and went in and tried to have a nap.
I didn’t sleep very well. Maybe about 2 hours but she came in to wake me about 6:30pm with Chinese food. It was good. I did some reading and Internet stuff and watched the Oiler’s at Calgary game: Talk about biting a bullet. The Oiler’s in Calgary this evening kept not only their 49 goal scorer off the scoreboard but denied him from scoring his 50th at home. Love it. Flames fans like Canuck fans show they have no taste (except my immediate family of course) At every turn in the game it was “Oiler’s suck,” “Oiler’s suck,” “Oiler’s suck,” etc. Embarrassing to be an Albertan. Well the Oiler’s don’t suck. In all my years of being an Oiler fan I’ve never heard the Oiler fan faithful at Rexall shout “The Flames suck,” “The Flames suck,” “The Flames suck,” Same with any other visiting team. Calgary hockey fans and Vancouver hockey fans only goes to show they have no class. The Flames scored first goal and the Oiler’s right after to tie. Then the Oiler’s caught a few lucky breaks sure but good teams get luck. The Oiler’s have been on the other end of bad officiating calls for years. Every team does. Get over it. The Oiler’s won because they wanted to win the game more. I’m sure when Calgary comes back Tuesday they’ll win ousting the Oiler’s out of a playoff spot. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Bottom line, the Oiler’s won and I loved it.
In the hour and a half I got left before bed, I’m going to work on some website stuff. I want to try and work this photo upload editor in a block to try and replace The library thing. I’m also going to get my material together to work on H as well for this afternoon. In experimenting with the upload image editor in a block I found there was no URL I.D. indicator number to link an image to. HTML might do it but even then it needs an image URL. I'll figure something out.
Also this afternoon (Sunday) is Wrestlemanina. It’s bought and paid for and I’m going to have fun with it.
Still reading Elizabeth Bear’s Ut and I’m enjoying it. Very good. I hope to get to at least the half way mark by the end of this weekend. After that here are my next 3 books after Ut: L.E. Modesitt jr. “The Eternity Artifact.” Charles Stross “Glasshouse.” Eric Brown’s “Helix” The above should take me until about the middle of May.
Anyway Bloggers, that’s all for now.
