Part 1 Saturday |
|
It was hard to sleep Friday night Saturday morning. I had my mind set on getting the extra Ram. I might have had maybe 3 hours of sleep. But I got up fixed a coffee and did some web stuff. At the last possible moment I popped the case open and brought the Ram out. To my surprise and delight it read PC3200. DR Sdram. Excellent.
Feeling good about this I wrapped the Ram strip up in some plastic, packed everything I needed for the day and locked up and headed out. My bus was coming up to meet me and I got to Clairview station. I didn’t want to read much from PS. I was enjoying the morning mid April air. I love this time of year. I got up to Tim’s and got myself a large Roll up (checking the contents this time) and my breakfast sandwich. No surprises at the office. Again WCS. I was having some pretty good sales but no credit card sales. By break I was getting a bit PO’d by this. At break I called ME and asked about the Ram but I kept on getting put on hold all the time. I tried again about 40 minutes later and got a guy on the other end. I asked if he had any PC3200 Dr Sdram. He said he even had some in the 1 Gb format for $54. Cool. I was prepared to spend $33 for x2 512 strips. He said he they had lots left. The rest of the afternoon went by ok. At 2pm when work was over I had top total for WCS out of 12 of us tap shooters with $595. Bad news: No credit card sales. If none of them kick out on me from this last week all 11 of them for a $22 bonus on my next cheque. Still with me
?
Out in the lobby of the Baker Center building, I’m calling ETS information line. I get this fellow on the phone, nice enough guy but tied me up for a long time trying to find the best possible way into the area. I had him explaining to me this walking towards Corona and finally I had had enough and took his first selection. The heat of the day was getting to me. In a nice way. The operator suggested I take the #6 at the University then at Southgate the #304 Great. I got to University and Anne called. I couldn’t even begin to remember how many times she called worrying about me and my insulin, thinking I’m leaving her etc, oh brother
The things being a struggling Science-Fiction writer that I am I go through with. I told her the other night what my mission was for the day. So I get the #6 bus and I get my first hand "passing glimpse” of the South LRT extension under construction. Wow, there’s lots of building going on. Even Southgate Mall is expanding as well. Lots of construction going on. This is a mjaor project. At Southgate I got the #304 mini bus. This nice lady bus driver was chatting with me as I stood up looking behind her shoulder to find my destination. We got to chatting about work and stuff and she asked what I do and I said I work in a call center and she asked if I’d ever consider working for ETS? This is actually a good idea and I think this afternoon when I go for my haircut, I’m going to call and ask about I. If there is a posting. She suggested I get out at Save On Foods there. After a long trip in the hot Sun, “This looks like Gateway Blvd.” Right on. She said, “Memory Express? Is that the place you want?” It was right across the street in her front window view but I’d have to cross at the set of lights at the corner. “Excellent thanks.” Part 2 below:
