Recap of yesterday Science Fiction and other stuff |
|
After cleaning up, packing up and shutting everything down and locking it up, I left out of here at about 4pm for work. I read a bit from Ps on the train got off at Corona and worked my way through the parkade and into the office drugstore as I bought my diet Coke and up to the office. I got good comments about my haircut and we ended up doing wcs, again. I was about $310 by break. No credit card sales. Anne gave me a call. I wanted to call ETS about a call Center Job posting and how do I go about applying for the post. But I’d forgotten or too busy. I’ll remember for later tonight. In the 2nd half I didn’t do much better. I ended up with $410 on a slow Monday night. And 1 credit card sale. Yeesh.
So after work I got to Corona and there was the South LRT train coming in. I boarded this and went on a trip to the HSC and was able to find a seat to myself. Sort of. Anne called me at Stadium and I got to Clairview at 9:40pm. This left me plenty of time to get inside the apartment and watch a little hockey and Raw. Anne called again as she was on her way home. Raw wasn’t bad coming from London England. Some pretty good matches. On a scale from 1-10, I’d give Raw a 7.5.
On Coast tonight, Futurist and executive director of Matrix Institute, Gordon-Michael Scallion will describe his visions of dramatic Earth Changes and coastal shifts as well as new information about Atlantis, the Pyramids and the current Presidential Election. I don’t know anything about this Matrix institute but Earth Changes and coastal shifts, sounds like another global AGW warmer alarmist to me. I think I heard of this guy before and him and George see eye to eye on this AGW nonsense. As for “Atlantis” all I have to say I, so what? By The Pyramids if the guest means the Egyptian Pyramids, then I’m more interested in that then any AGW crap. Hell, I’m more interested in the Trump wedding and Brittney Speers and her woes then AGW.
Some of the big stories in the news these days is of course the upcoming Olympic Summer games in China and human rights abuse against the Tibetan Monks. Rising food prices based on food shortages in countries like Haiti. The on going situation in the Middle East the Civil unrest in the Sudan. The Trump wedding, my Science Fiction book purchase of the week: When you got all that going AGW seems petty and insignificant doesn’t it? Does this mean that the global warmers and other environmentalist alarmists are sitting on their heals? They might be taking in a Spring/Summer break who knows?
My friend Keith Graham on his site is complaining about the sad state of TV these days and I agree. So he’s been pulling out some old 1972 “Night Stalker” episodes on DVD’s. The ones with Darrin McGavin I think. I used to like this series as well. Because TV is so bad these days I think this is why the consumer is tuning TV out in favor of other forms of media like video games. Personally I’d rather play “Oblivion” or even play Virtual ASL. I’m grateful we have DVD’s, even though I have yet to watch a DVD at home. We don’t have a DVD player. I'm waiting for a complete Star Wars anthology on Blu Ray. I'm sure it's out there or coming soon. The big screen seems to be doing better then the small screen. I want to get a Blu Ray player which is part of the PS3 when we get the 42” HDTV. For me the only decent thing on TV is of course hockey and Raw. I also like the evening news as well and old reruns. And finally, I'm looking forward to several movies Indian Jones, Dark Knight detective (Batman) and Iron Man. For TV, the television version of Star Wars. If it's just a half hour offering forget it. Star Wars for TV only works for me if Lucas makes the episodes at least 1 hour. Anything less and I won't be watching.
My other online friend, J Alan Erwine on his blog is asking readers what panel would they like to see at a SF convention. I can’t really comment at any of this because I don’t go to a lot of SF conventions. I’m going to go to Pure Speculation in October because Robert J Sawyer will be there and it’s a local event.
Anyway Bloggers, that’s all for now
