Some Friday whining, well I'm entitled now and then aren't I?

Barely into the end of April and we have snow on the ground. Lots of it. I think it’s going to stick around for the first week in May. At the moment it’s -3C/-9C wind chill this afternoon. Overcast.

During my train ride into work yesterday afternoon I read more from Ps. It’s picking up. Some places it slows down but that’s natural for a big book like this. So far its keeping my interest. There are a lot of characters. The book needs a glossary of terms just to keep up with the many characters.

I got in and found my end dialer and I had a nice chat with JT but everyone else ignored me. Nobody came up to me and said “high Jim, how’s it going?” or anything like that. This is unusual. I got a $100 sale right off but the rest of the night just slowed right down. Nobody likes to be ignored so in between calls I read my book and watched another go of “Austin Powers.” Anne called at break and I just kind of grinned and bared the lack if attention I was getting. I mean I’m not suggesting that I draw attention to myself and the world doesn’t revolve around me or anything but gees. I was getting a bit annoyed but no worse for wear and tear. I mean from the tap section? Nobody loved me last night, whine, boo hoo Too be fair, most of the people I sat with were day people squeezing out extra time for extra hours.

Over the last number of months since I hooked up with Charles he’s been mentioning about his Wednesday night bowling night out, I began to get the itch as well. I was in a blowling team with my friend Gord back in the early 70's. Bowling always held an interest for me. I asked about his team and if there was room on his team for an extra player but they are all full up. So I got the idea to look around the net for bowling centers here in Edmonton. I need an activity. Anne said there’s a bowling Center just up here and I did some checking and there’s the Fraser bowling Center. They’ve got a mixed senior league 55+ I want to bowl not to meet a special someone. Yet at $8/ night not to mention shoe rentals are going to cost me $10/night. Then there’s the snack bar later. I preferably want to get into an all men’s senior team. This particular lane (for it's senior slot) bowls twice/week, Monday and Wednesday afternoons of all times. If I take this route then I’d be sacrificing my hours and I’m not about to do this. Unless of course the time is from 1-3pm lunch from 3-4pm and then hustle to get to work. Then the other thing I want to do is piano practice. Giovanni music has a 30 min slot open on Saturdays at 3pm. As for the Lodge, I can go as usual except substitute the morning/afternoon so I get 7 hours. This way I get bowling, Raw, Lodge, piano practice and hours. I can write on the weekends and mornings;

back to finish this entry off from last night. I was hoping to put this to bed before I retired for the night. I slept alright after George’s other news. His Crypto news offerings were kind of thin for the first hour. Wesley Snipes in jail for tax fraud? Hmm. I got up around 6:30am on the late side and my wife hadn’t put the cat food out for me to dish out to our babies. She was put off that I had to wake her because she said she’d be up in a couple of hours to go get those pension forms off so we can get out 42” TV. I’ve got the money for the cable box. I went back to bed and slept without interruption. Other then to pee of course every couple of hours. I slept ok, even a couple of dreams. One of them was about these 4 alien races I was caught up in. The other I can’t recall.

I received my pay cheque last night. I kind of got a bit annoyed that I always have to beg for my cheque every Thursday. The afternoon staff get called in one at a time. That’s a little better. I can live with that. So I just vented my frustration about this process the night shift constantly undergoes. It’s like we’re 2nd class citizens or something. I got my cheque and all the bonuses on it and all. I think I had developed a bad attitude because nobody came up to me and acknowledged me before shift or even during shift. I mean even Lev was there and we usually share a laugh about something. I was glad to get out of there my pride reasonably intact.

And to top it all off this Sci-fi guy sees the front end of the Clairview train at the top of the stairs heading my way. I had a wait and I figured I’d crack the book open when I’m on the train. But I had company. Brent D hooked up with me. He’s been reduced to the back 20. But to be fare to Rob etc, he’ll let anyone come back. But if after a prolonged period of time, he won’t let them return to a tap dialer. We had a good chat on the way home, talking music. He’s a guitar player and a damn good one but into metal. I like some metal, especially the 80’s stuff.

My priority for getting home last night was to catch the playoff scores. Habs at Flyers. Habs won game one in the Bell Centre. Obviously because it was at home. But how much gas do the Habs have in the tank? Detroit won their game as well. I’d like to see a Montreal/Detroit finale, with the Habs taking the cup. First time in 15 years a Canadian team last won it all.

Tonight it’s into work for a grueling 3.5 hours. Actually, it’s more like 3 hours after kick-off etc. Then I think I’d like to head over to Chapters and see what they have for me. Maybe they have something Star Wars and or Star Trek for me. But I think I’ve seen Karl Schroeder’s “Sun of Sun’s” at Audrey’s so I might just head over there and save the rest for my Tim’s breakfast for tomorrow and head home.

Anyway Bloggers, that’s all for now
