Mothers day weekend |
|
I did my 4pm ritual to work and proceeded to get the bus and then the train. I read a bit more on the train and I enjoyed my walk to the office. I met JT there in the drugstore buying a mothers day card and I bought a bag of “Cheese pleasers.” JT and I had a nice talk and he talked about the company I’m trying to get a customer service rep job out of and that a lot of these companies are utilizing a senior employee buy out plan to make way for new talent. He said that I stand a good chance on getting into the company. I rode side saddle with JT in the back. We had a light crew there but I ended up with 4 credit cards and a decent night. Anne called. In the 2nd half I ended up doing BBB and I got another 2 credit card sales. I got the $10 bonus as well. Good stuff. It’s not that I’m going to quite Xl, I just want to do something else that pays a bit more money. Anyway, I ended up with high total and 6 credit cards. $22 on the night. If all credit cards work, that’s $28 on the week and there’s always what could happen today.
After work I ended up going over to Audrey’s and Trevor got my attention saying that there were some books he couldn’t order for me. No worries. I was looking at the Canadian Science Fiction Book club and they have a deal where a first time client gets 5 books for 20 cents. This isn’t a bad deal I’m going to try and get some of those anthologies out of that. Total bill to me will come to about $15. Not including taxes. I’d be looking at a total of $16 altogether including shipping. Good deal. Give s me an excuse to get a pre loaded credit card and order that way. Plus I’m going to try and order the Bards Tale’s books. Seems Holly Lisle wrote a few of them. Good stuff. Those books will be about $70. So about $80 in total. So I went downstairs and had a look around and I ended up buying Phillip Palmer’s “Debatable Space.” it’s in trade paperback.
I caught my train to the University and then home the other way and read hoping I’d run into Anne. I got home and she had called saying how she’s ordering us a Rose Bowl pizza. Excellent.
I got in did my admin stuff and went through the process of ordering the Bard’s Tales books. Anne came in and we fired up the TV for the news enjoying our Pizza. Man that Pizza was so tasty. Uh oh, some bad news on the economic front. Convergy’s a huge customer service outlet here in Canada and more specifically in Edmonton is closing it’s doors in June. 400 people will be out of work but the article I just read said something like there are about 150 call centers here in the City. Convergy’s sites the high Canadian dollar and the few calls they were getting and the labor shortage as the main reason why they are closing their Edmonton operation. Most likely a lot of the people that worked for Dell in February got moved into Convergy’s. I’m sure a lot of them got moved into other call centers as well. I’m still going to apply at Telus.
I ended up watching ECW and then went to bed. I still have 3 slices of pizza left over for today.
When I sat with JT there he was telling me that Victoria day long weekend is next weekend. This is beautiful. I think I’m going to try and work Monday through Thursday 7 hour shifts and work Friday morning and then take 3 days off and show up Tuesday afternoon. This way I get an extra long weekend. I need 2 more references for my job application. JT said ask Moe, and he thinks Moe would give me a good reference. if I sat down and talked with him.
So this weekend, well it’s off to work for this morning. I’ll get my breakfast sandwich and work the 4 hours. Hopefully I’ll get some more credit card sales. Then it’s home. I think there’s a Detroit/Dallas game on tonight. Plus I’m working on my new logo design and of course piano work and the short story I’m tinkering around with. Hopefully with the hours I want to put in this week I’ll have enough to order that grammar software. That comes first before the books.
Anyway Bloggers, that’s all for now
