Tuesday turned out ok, after all |

I gets into the office feeling alright I found myself a seat. At kick off Moe’s saying he’s been instructed to send people home. (probably only of the room is full, “Use your discretion.”) Then Moe mentioned about the regional managers coming to the office on a fact finding mission. Mostly looking for attendance violators as well as performance etc. This kind of threw me off because my attendance hasn’t been stellar. I thought they are most likely going to use me as an example because Robs been trying to get rid of me for years (in my own mind) So, Greg didn’t think I had anything to worry about neither did JT. If I get a letter, this might be a good thing. Probably the best thing that ever happened to me. We had a full crew tonight doing a new campaign, ASB Edmonton. I got a few credit card sales right off including one for $80. I was having a bang up night. Throughout the evening I began to collect pop cans and bottles and place them in my knap sack.
When Anne called at break we had a bit of a talk about this. “Wait till they through you out before you go off and looking for another job.” Good advice. So, I’m having a grand old time and at 3 credit card sales. I need to get out of this boiler room operation anyway. Then (and I knew it was going to happen.) I discover we need 20 credit card sales to qualify for the $2 for credit card bonus. I was going to say forget it I’m in no way in hell going to ask for credit cards when I close a sale if this is how he wants to play these games. The it was confirmed that for part time people like me, it’s only 12 to qualify. I can live with that. I have a better way of getting the credit card sale as well, by making sure the call is monitored and then suggesting to the customer that I can get them out a paid receipt a lot faster if they use their cc. This seems to be working to some degree of success. I ended up with $775 and 5 credit cards. I’m almost halfway towards my 12 qualifying bonus, And watch, just when we’re comfortable with this, Rob will come up with another scam. Maybe that the limit will be $25 or some such nonsense. He’s got one more trick up his sleeve before this credit card bonus falls by the wayside. What a weasel. I was glad to get the hell out of there. Rain had just begun to spit when I left to head outside and to Corona station to wait for my train. I got home and felt a lot better getting inside.
My bsl was dropping and I could feel light headed. A couple of Anne’s big cookies and I felt a lot better. I’m very tired and I could use a good sleep tonight. Maybe get to bed around 2 am.
Currently on Coast: Aerospace engineer Robert Zubrin will discuss the increase in crude oil prices and the various ways we can break free from our dependence on foreign oil. During the first hour: First Hour: Researcher Robert Felix reacts to an article about scientists rejecting global warming. This should be a good one because George, like me is a AGW skeptic. Wednesday night the topic is on Ghosts. Uggh. Thursday night “Crystal Skulls.” Two good shows on the week.
I didn’t get to order those 2 Jack Vance books yet. I’ve got to do this for today. I’m thinking if Amazon has them listed as new, then they should be in stock. I still want the Bards Tale books as well. I’m a little leery when ordering books from Amazon. Or anywhere else on line for that matter. Some of the prices for books on Amazon even for a paperback that isn’t Amazon approved are trying to scam the consumer for 3-4 times it’s original value. Amazon though has a one click ordering system, which seems pretty good. But one series I had read and enjoyed was Piers Anthony’s “Battle circle” and “Bio of a Space tyrant.” Classic Science Fiction. I read Battle circle in the early 1980’s but most of my books went to food. There is a “Battle Circle” Omnibus which I’d love to get a hold of and re read the series again. Ebay has it but the cover is worn and listed in fair condition but handled. There’s a collection including the Cluster series as well but the seller won’t ship International due to postage. Does that include Canada? Ebay Canada has a better copy in fine condition but with a slightly different cover. Lucianne has nothing but good things to say about Ebay. He’s the expert.
This month is just speeding by way to fast. Anne made me some Perogies and sausage for lunch. The Perogies were great but the sausages could have been cooked up a bit longer.
Finally were getting a bit of rain out there. I love a spring rain. Makes everything all fresh and clean outside. And lastly this upcoming weekend 29 years ago was when I received my income tax cheque that weekend and when Richard, Ellen and I went to toys and wheels where I watched the closing seconds of the Islander Habs game and more importantly where we went to see The Empire Strikes back.
Anyway Bloggers, that’s all for now
