Last night Anne made me a great Angus beef hamburger and homemade fries, while I was watching my ECW. I might continue to watch that. An hour of Smackdown and ECW won’t kill me but the rest of Global other then mentioned above will be off limits. I went to bed about 1:15am and I passed out and had a good sleep despite this canker in my mouth on my lower right side. It’s not a throbbing pain but it’s there to let me know.
Alright this morning I’m heading into work and my breakfast at Tim’s. I’ll take my insulin there and bring $30 with me as I want to go over to WEM after work/Giovanni music for one of those Alfred piano course books and take a look at the Tyros 2 ($4K for this baby) and maybe get a bite to eat from the food court I haven’t been to the mall in a long time. There’s lots of places to sit down there. The other thing I want to do is to call Happy Harbor comics (Warp one) and see if they have any of the “Warcraft novels” in stock. I won’t get American pricing but that’s ok. I haven’t been in a HH store yet. They have one up here that’s been opened for a couple of years now. Part 2 later tonight.
As for the job, I see so many contradictions. We have people that don’t really want to be there and are on the job for like 3 days/week and Rob’s got them on taps. We got winners like the new guy who worked only half the shift the other night because he had a TV show he wanted to watch at 7:30pm. Now watch he’ll end up getting paid for the whole night and he won’t work Saturday’s because “he has commitments.” Yeesh, where do we get these characters? Oh and he’s off Wednesday’s. Meanwhile the guy in the wheelchair next to me Chris is here every night. Both of them are nice fellows and all. Last night we had I think 5 people on the back system and 14 in the tap section. At 7pm half the tap section had left so we had to borrow from the .
Also, lets talk about the lousy equipment we’re forced to work with. Not to mention the lousy image out from my camera. These computers on the desktop are over 5 years old. Half of these computers do not have mice controllers and the night shift has to constantly scramble for headsets because the day shift hides them or takes them home. This is my work station. The dialer is that black box you see that has the volume control and mutes the call and is attached by the headset. the book is my beat up copy of Pandora's Star. The long gray thing is my Novilin pen. That's my ball cap I've been wearing lately. That brown paper bag is my Tim Horton's breakfast sandwich and hashbrowns. The black thing is my bus pass horlder. That long white piece of paper is my recap.
So this is what I’m going to do: September 15th 2000 is my 8th anniversary at Xl. When all the back to school kids have vacated the premises, I’m getting out of Xl for Pizza. I know more then a few people that work there and they love it. This will be my last year at Xl. Now since if I can get on at Pizza I’ll work that from 9-1am. No weekends and then I’ll be looking at a part time security guard job (SGJ) 5-9pm and work Pizza 3 days/week, weekends off. This way, on the SGJ I can at least read and bring a lap top in, then go to Pizza and screw Xl.
I missed my bus this morning so I walked down to Clairview Station and boarded the train and read a bit to take me downtown. Corona station. I got my Tim’s breakfast sausage sandwich and hash browns and into the office and took the picture above. Because we had such a low turnout they moved some of us over to the other side. We had 6 tap shooters and 8 others on the other side. I moved over by Bud and ended up having a slow start. But I got a whack of CC’s and $340 by break. Not quite line hour but unlike John McD I wasn’t going to give up even though the company doesn’t give a rats ass about me. That’s alright I want to be out of there before the end of September anyway. I ended up with 5 credit card sales and $635. Just about where I was yesterday. I was glad to get out of there and catch my bus to WEM. I had a long wait as well for that #1 bus but it finally came and it took me 30 minutes to get out there. I had a bit of trouble finding Giovanni music. I didn’t quite get the piano book I wanted but I got something just as good if not better. The fellow even gave me a 10% discount and showed me the PSR-S900. Beautiful instrument. $1,800 after GST. The sales clerk, Dennis, gave me his card and demonstrated the keyboard. It sounds so full and rich. I managed to get a diet Coke on my way out and catch a bus back to where I was to double back to WEM transit station. After about a ten minute wait on the hot sun a bus finally came by. My #1. I should have figured this out on my own when the bus pulled into the transit station and parked near the end of the station. The driver should have said something. Again another woman bus driver. I think they have it out for me this weekend. My alarm went up when the bus failed to turn North at Meadowlark yet continued on down to 156th st. uh-oh. “is this bus going to the University?” I asked someone. Yes it was. Oops/ Damn. Well, it was nice. I wasn’t tired or in a hurry or anything. I was content on letting the bus carry me to the U of A. I got out at the U of A transit station and an elevator to the lower concourse. I didn’t think about it but if I had more cash on me I would have had a bite to eat at the food court and maybe even look around a bit more. My Clairview train came and I got home a few minutes after my wife did.
I had a nap when I came home and went through my book and Anne made me some old style macaroni and spicy chicken fingers. Good stuff. She did laundry and lean up all night and after I post this I’m going to catch up on my blog rounds and I might even get some piano practice in.
Since Global news has turned me off I’ve been watching the CTV news. I learned something interesting and about myself. I’m not much of an environmentalist because lately all environmentalists are talking about is “Climate Change.” One of my big hates is Greenpeace. (DDT) Type that in your Google and you’ll be amazed. However, some of the environmental issues of mine are plastic bags and the forest industry misuse there of. Over fishing is another one of my environmental issues. So to my surprise Greenpeace is making a deal about how there are some species of fish that are on the endangered species list and that some fish/stores ought to be boycotted. The worst offenders here in Canada of course is Atlantic Canada.
I like what Greenpeace is doing with this issue. I don’t like them meddling in our economy. But the fishing industry is Atlantic Canada’s industry and I can understand their side of this. I’m splitting hairs here I know but Greenpeace is hitting home on some environmental issues of mine and for that they get a thumbs up. Anyway, that’s enough from me this weekend.
Anyway Bloggers, that‘s all for now
