hmm, it seems that the LHC won’t come on until about 5pm Edmonton time tomorrow. Well, that’s ok. It’s not like CERN will be making any big announcements anytime soon. They need The Grid online to process the data, which they’ve had now for some years. In 2006 CERN’s transfer rate was something like 1Gb/second. Or one DVD’s worth of scientific data every five seconds. This from a CERN LHC page: At full power, trillions of protons will race around the LHC accelerator ring 11 245 times a second, traveling at 99.99% the speed of light. Two beams of protons will each travel at a maximum energy of 7 TeV (tera-electronvolt), corresponding to head-to-head collisions of 14 TeV. Altogether some 600 million collisions will take place every second. The whole LHC project will last 15 years. So I’m not expecting any great LHC things right away.
Anne and I are concerned for her job as the slow down in the summer hints at less work for her. So far she’s been working steady but it’s only the first week in July. Lets see what will happen by the end of this month. If she can get passed July, then she should be ok. At the moment she’s out there at Superstore. If Anne is still working around my birthday then my Vacation pay is mine.
We went to bed about 3:30am and I slept from there until about 8:30am and did the CBI thing. I crawled back into bed after that and woke out of bed around 1pm! I had a good 9 hours sleep.
The other thing I’m considering of Anne is still working in August is what to do with my vacation pay. I wouldn’t mind getting the Xbox Elite. It’s $445 but can I scale down the resolution to 720P? I did a quick search and yes it does. So the if all works out ok, I’ll be able to get the Xbox 360 and Oblivion in the fall. If I can get on at Pizza and work Monday-Friday 9:30pm-1am and get a ride home then great. Anne doesn’t get in until about 10:30pm anyway. I’m going to submit a resume to Pizza this week. They can call my cell phone but I don’t need to call back from it. I can see the number flash on the screen and call back.
Last night somebody won $8,741,372.00! I barely got 1 number. I won’t be playing Wednesday’s game. No cash and I won’t take out of that $60 we have stored away. They haven’t posted the estimated draw for Wednesday’s game yet. I like gambling but I’m not a chronic gambler. I don’t play the slots or go to the track. But playing Sports Select and games like that are ok.
I called my friend Don Brown his partner Jimmy answered as they were over there at his place having birthday drinks with Fran. I figured I may as well as I had a window of a few minutes but Anne left out of here at about 1:30pm and hasn’t been back yet.
