Another great book read

About 3:25am this morning I finished reading “Judas Unchained.” This was a fascinating series. The characters were interesting and their individual stories engaging. The story was put fourth on a broad canvas yet individual scenes were handled well.

The Skinny: The Commonwealth is caught in a struggle between 2 alien species The Prime and The Starflyer each hard wired to wipe out everything in the Universe. The sequel to Pandora’s Star takes us through a desperate enemy wanting to wipe out every known species, its immediate threat The Commonwealth. This story has everything, romance, intrigue and danger with something to risk for the characters.

Pros: Interesting and likeable characters, with deadly aliens and even deadlier humans on exotic locals. Very detailed prose splashing color with each sentence on every page.

Cons: Maybe just to much local history but that’s part of the world building experience needed for a book this large. Otherwise, not many cons in this book.

Bottom line: This book took me 10 weeks to read. I thought it would be a lot longer. I liked the characters so much I couldn’t wait for one scene to be over to get to the next. Lots of cliffhanger scene endings. This was my first 2nd attempt at reading a Peter F. Hamilton novel, what with reading Pandora’s star earlier. The ending was very satisfying and not the way I thought the author would handle it best of all, the ending wasn’t rushed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series and “Judas Unchained.” This was a great read and as for Peter F. Hamilton, as long as it isn’t YA I’ll be coming back for more. I’ll be ordering book 1 of “The dreaming void” this week.

Rating: 5 e.Jim’s out of 5

Good stuff. Thanks Peter for a fun read.

Now it’s onto read some high fantasy in the AD&D tradition. With “Icewind Dale.”

Anyway Bloggers, that‘s all for now
