Sigh, life in general

We were in bed early. 2:00am, I was tired and exhausted. I slept ok in bits and pieces but I had a soar neck/headache. I woke up about 11:30am with a splitting headache and got Anne up at noon and I fell back to sleep as she had to go across the street to Superstore but that hour I’d got was like a power hour and I had got more out of that 1 hour then all the sleep before. I’m feeling ok.

Now I’m having my first coffee and trying to wake up here, It’s a beautiful day out there +20C for the last few days of summer. Weather is supposed to change to but this is life.

Apparently at work we‘re supposed to get cable for the overhead monitors. This was Greg’s idea so we could watch Oiler hockey games. Is this another sign of the dreaded 3-9 shift? If we’re not affected by the DNC (except ticket campaigns) and there’s enough work for everyone, I might stay but I’d like to get out of anything that has to do with Telemarketing altogether. Anne got the number for an employment councilor (EC) for me at the Northgate job bank. So we’re taking Monday off and were going to each go there to make an appointment to see a separate EC. I might show up late on the job. Better late then never. I’d even get up early to take advantage of their services. The one over here on Fort Road is for people on welfare. I hope to have something else in the works lined up before the end of the month, something other then Telemarketing but if I can find something that is from 8:30am-4:30pm no nights and my weekends off that I can do comfortably where I’m not on my feet all the time that pays about $12-15/hour, I’d scoop it up. “Mr. Shannon can you start right away?” Sure. I’d even make arrangements with Rob to go in from 7-9 Mon-Friday.

I got my pay cheque a bit on the late side of last night just before the end of the shift. Even though I got my full hours I was surprised to see I got $62 in bonuses. WTF? Where did that come from? I was expecting $45. I couldn’t account for the other $18. So Anne had the idea that I’d take her bank card instead of mine. “Leave $100 in the account and take out the rest in increments of $20 bills.” Ok. I knew her pin number and she validated it to me. Ok. When I got to one of the only kiosks that were working and entered her number and hit OK, the machine rejected the number and her card. I tried several times. Yeesh. A customer was nice enough to hear my story and to place a cell call for me to Anne so I could call home. She had no explanation for me and I didn’t have my card with me to deposit my cheque. “Just come home.”

Alright. I thanked the fellow for the use of his cell phone and headed down to the LRT below just to miss the Clairview train. Thanks a lot. Apparently ETS was having some more difficulties and delays. I managed to board and on the way home as the train was stalled made contact with some university kid cracking her knuckles on the seat facing me. (a bad habit of mine) “Not good if you want to play piano.” She smiled and asked if I play. So we got into a conversation. She’s been playing for about 10 years. So we had a nice conversation to Clairview. She volunteered her name but I wasn’t going to take her name or number down or anything like that. I’m not out to fool around on my wife. I wasn’t in the mood to read but in the mood to talk while we were having ETS delays. I wasn’t trying to pick her up. She did confirm for me the differences between a Major and a Minor Triad.

So I got to the lower concourse at Clairview and met Anne on the steps. She wanted to go downtown to the bank with my card but instead we took a crowded #11 Northgate to where I get off just outside and she continued to the bank at Manning Crossing Mall just up the street the rest of the way.

I had to watch the potato’s on the stove, chicken in the oven. I was supposed to get anything over a specific amount on my cheque but because of the cable bill threatening to be cut off, all I got was a $20. About 40 minutes later she returned and we had a nice supper and she was feeling happy and Anne made me a hot chicken sandwich with fries.

Also just now her other place of employment called. So when I talk to her tonight she’ll have another decision to make. She wouldn’t mind working at B 2 days/week and Pizza 3 if she can get 2 days off. She’s got the potential for having work out the preverbal ying-yang. As for me, well my job is in jeopardy what with the DNC list approaching October 1st and nobody is saying anything about it at work. So, I’m going to have to sit down with Rob and ask exactly how this DNC thing affects my job.

I’ll be fending for myself this afternoon. Eating a frozen entry or something as Anne is at work right now until 11pm. Better then out of a can but Anne’s got a lunch made for me for tonight and a fruit cup as well. After work I’m going into Audrey’s to pick something out of my special order. If there’s no change from last week, I’ll pick up one of the Karen Travis books then home to watch Smackdown and back at it for Saturday.

Anyway Bloggers, that‘s all for now
